Synopsis:
A young woman, Jane, suddenly finds herself inheriting an old house previously owned by her great-grandfather. As she starts to pack the house up to sell, she discovers old letters and journals written by her great-grandfather. The more Jane reads, the more she learns about a terrible family secret. Haunted by a confused and scared ghost, she has to navigate the house's history.

I cry each time I watch this: the scenes in the garden capture so much of my mother, who had Alzheimers and the love and understanding my father had shown in caring for her. And when he died before her, the 'ghost' of her former self searching for that understanding and familiarity of care ... ❤

Having recently buried my grandmother-in-law after a multiyear decline, parts of this really hit hard. At a more literary level, the idea of a ghost having functionally dementia due to when they died is a clever, and very impactful notion I have not seen before. My one criticism is that the great grandfather seemed to be much younger than I would expect for someone who is supposed to be that old.

Not what I expected, at all. A beautiful, sad story, told so quickly. Very moving.
