A lot of areas of Tennessee are really spooky, especially in the mountainous areas and the hills, then in west TN you have the eerie swamps and Cyprus forests. And all the spooky open fields at night

I've just come across this trying to research history/haunted stories in my home town of Rugby, Warwickshire, England. The sport was invented literally across the road of my house in the playing fields of Rugby School. Thomas Hughes who wrote the book Tom Brown Schooldays went to Rugby School and the book is about that school, loosely based on his experiences there. I never knew he moved over to Tennessee and made a new Rugby town! That's incredible! 😮😮

That’s wild. I live in Tennessee only 4 hrs from there just because of the scenic/secluded value of the area. I had never heard of the story of the town or the British author. I have visited other places along the Cumberland Plateau closer to civilization and it’s beautiful. I’ve been to a lot of places.. the Alps, most places in the Rockies, the Smokies, Germany.. it’s a pretty region. That area is 2.5 hrs from Nashville but far off the beaten path.

We would love to visit and maybe even stay the night at the Newbury House. Looking forward to documenting our time there and publishing some KZbin videos to help others learn about and appreciate this gem in Tennessee!

Looks like a beautiful little place! I'd *love* to live there! Seems like there'd be lots of trails in the forest to wander along - maybe a nice stream or two. Very relaxing!

I lived and grew up near this place. I lived in Robbins which is approximately 9 miles away. Haven't really "toured" there in years but as a kid I went there a couple times on class trips. There is several old buildings to tour including a library and a church. There is also an old bed and breakfast there called Grey Gables which is pretty cool and the food was dope. To me one of the coolest parts of the whole place was right at the entrance/driveway to Grey Gables...there right along the side of the road viewable from the highway there is a big field and apparently they used to play the game Rugby there cause there was one of the old(rotting) Rugby goal posts that remained standing there as long as I can remember(not sure if it's still there now), anyways that goal post stood there 100+ years which is kinda baffling. In my memories of the place I recall the place did have an eerie feeling about it. I still live only 20 minutes drive away...maybe I should revisit the place

Nice inspiration. Writing three other ghost books, if given an advance, I would move there indefinitely and bring the town to life with some pseudo-fiction intrigue. Love it.

It's a very small town, I don't this there is anyone to give you an "advance," but if you're interested in visiting there are several small houses that you can stay in. There's also Grey Gables, the bed and breakfast. It's a really cool place to visit. 💚

I never understood why people put money on the Head Stone. I was visiting a late relative and a elderly man told me that it had something to do with the person's rank in the Military. I didn't tell him be I got curious about it. I checked maybe five or eight headstones and every one of them were men that had change on them.

If you go to Rugby, go to the general store and get a fried Balogna sandwich from Tiffany. It's to DIE for bahahahahhaahaa No but really they're fantastic. I like them fully loaded with fries and a peanut butter milkshake!

I won't be visiting because I am seeking land outside a village town that is unincorporated. If I were in tourist mode perhaps. I'm finding out upon my arrival of the State that it's a Disney planned environment and not what I expected to build a cabin and tiny house on wheels.

It was founded because, at the time, only first born sons received inheritances and during a bad economy, the other children suffered. So, they wanted to try a new community, where the money was divided evenly.
