Hint: 2 types (more than others) are likely to NOT shield if they have more than say 70% of their health left. Azumarill and Deoxys often try to soak up the damage of the first charge move. I very often get a Shadow Ball in and take out a lot of three health.

Ah Haunter. The bain of my existence since I lead Alolan Raichu. Skarmory is my only safe way to kill it but the bad lead often gives it a swath of energy to abuse. I recently decided to start sacking Raichu so that it can't farm it down after I shield the Shadow Punch. Actually won a game today against a lead Haunter team with that play.

I see Haunter leads once in a while, I lead with Linoone which is a nightmare matchup since it’s double resisted and shadow claws can farm it down so it’s an automatic switch which gives me a great jump into winning. Linoone might be the savior of my wins, with shadow claw damage and energy gain along with being a solid Swampert exterminator with Grass Knot and can Thunder down Skarms. Underrated poke imo

Another hidden gem shadowclaw user is Linoone Linoone maxes out at 1662 so finding a mid IV high level zigzagoon isn’t too hard to find to make this a cheap option Linoone isn’t very high on Def at 128 so shielding is generally a good idea but it has a modest 143 attack leaving a good spread to make its 186 HP shine A strategy I’ve have luck with is to start with a tank to charge up energy and tank first enemy charged attack Then hard swap Linoone and burn the swap clock with your shield trying to bait their shields with its wide coverage of shadowclaw with Dig/Thunder/Grassknot After stalling with both shields and all those charged attacks for linoone the swap clock should be off cooldown At that point you ether have all the shields or a Pokémon advantage If they burned shields I would go into Grovyle which is a glass cannon but has 172 melee and maxes at 1673 so just like linoone you can easily get a good IV spread with high base IV for Grovyle to blow things down with seed bomb with Leafblade/Aerial Ace But if they did blow shields with linoone I would swap back to tank and drop a few more bombs with the charged up energy before bringing out Grovyle as a sweeper Really Bulky teams sometimes make Grovyle useless because of his glassy nature due to many weaknesses but if he can connect he obliterates and linoone just has great coverage with only a fighting weakness but he takes neutral dmg from everything else besides ghost resistance

I have been using haunter for quite a while, it's like an actual ghost, suddenly comes from the shadow & one shot the opponent's pokemon with shadow ball, in 1 shield scenario it can beat almost any pokemon.

I started using Haunter today just before I saw this video, lmao. It did incredibly well as lead with azumarill and mawile in the back. Both Haunter and Mawile were MVPs, managed to get three 4/5s in the three sets that I used them.

Shadow haunter should be even more efficient. More dmg ( not taken into account in the cp formula which tend to overrate high attack pokémon) . Against weak fast moves and with 2 shields up it could be interesting.

I used to lead with Haunter! Most people doesn't know how to deal with it, so many unnecessary switches! Please, can you make a video about the matchmaking algorithm? We want to know if you agree that the game decides the kind of match you are going to face (hard, neutral or easy) to normalize your score. My argument is that you can see a lot of different teams right after you change yours. Picks that you never ran into with your old team suddenly become very common. And you NEVER get paired with the same player if you ran him over or if you got absolutely wrecked, it's always neutral in those cases.

They consume the same energy, the point of doing less damage (nice/great) is so that you can do more fast move damage to gain more energy for the next pokemon.

Haunter is better at lower cp because gengar has a higher attack stat. Gengar doesnt have access to shadow punch which is a low energy bait move

Shadow ball costs more energy and hits harder, shadow punch costs less energy than shadow ball and hits not as hard. so the aim is to land shadow balls and bait shields with shadow punch, hard to do but a deeper understanding of the game will help that over time! Simply, one hits hard the other is spammy to get shields.

2 main reasons, firstly slightly better stats (it can level up more under 1500 than gengar can). Secondly it has Shadow Punch, Gengar does not, this allows for shield baiting :)

Welcome to pvp! You can opt to purchase a second charge move with stardust, head to your pokemon inventory, click on the pokemon you'd like to put a second move on, and scroll down to the "Unlock Second Charge move" button, costs vary from 10k/50k/75k/100k depending on the Pokemon.
