There are two kinds of musicians in the comment section. 1 - ‘omg, their playing is so good, i have so much confidence now to play!’ 2 - ‘omg, their playing is so good, my self esteem has now been eradicated from the face of the earth!’

the bass clarinet sounds so good. so warm and soft and yet solid. i'm in love with clarinets. thank you.
@Petero33 жыл бұрын
To me it sometimes sounds like a string double bass played with bow, esp on low notes. And regular clarinet reminds me of flute when she plays high notes.
@Beanys7283 жыл бұрын
Is it not a bassoon?
@Petero33 жыл бұрын
@@Beanys728 no. Here you can see a neck attached to the top of the instrument’s body. Bassoon, on the other hand, has a thinner neck not attached to the top.
@Beanys7283 жыл бұрын
@@Petero3 Yeah, I just thought that the instrument that is a bassoon was an oboe and apparently what is a bass clarinet was a bassoon. I looked it up right after commenting.

you also have to think that she has a very nice instrument. Technical stuff gets easier, and tone quality gets better with a better instrument (to some extent of course, she is obviously an amazing instrumentalist).
bass clarinet is so hard, this just gave me a really big boost in confidence, thank you!! edit: thank you all for the support, my original instrument is tenor sax so the transition between the 2 is quite harsh but ive slowly gotten used to the change and im still getting better every day!!

@MadiLikesPie3 жыл бұрын
@@lynxox4855 ive only played the standard clarinet a few times before, but i'd say yes. you need super good air and breath control for bass clarinet, otherwise you squeak or play incorrect notes a lot :) its a lot of fun to play though once you get used to it!

A fellow clarinetist in my band just switched to bass clarinet, but she quits band next year. She hates our teacher and band in general :(
Spectacular.. I can’t believe the timing is so flawless, must be hard to play so in sync with yourself!
@pressxfor72193 жыл бұрын
she just reads sheet music and puts the videos together. No need to play in sync if you're able to read music and keep time.
@thestampede87633 жыл бұрын
Click tracks eliminate the need for time keeping as well
@dmack20032 жыл бұрын
lol, y’all are dumb. she made tempo changes. that is not easy to do in separate sessions.
@grayward6651 Жыл бұрын
But the issue with sheet music/click tracks is that in the beginning especially, she plays with so much rubato. She pushes/pulls with the music, so my guess is she played the first part, then listened to that as a stylistic reference for the 2nd, 3rd, and bass parts
@TheDragiix3 Жыл бұрын
I'm sincerely wondering the people here saying this is easy as it's just a sheet of music actually play any type of instrument or sing. It's incredibly hard to synchronise perfectly because a milisecond off already sounds wrong. Videos like this are usually approached in a similar way to how a group of musicians would practice. She would start with the melody and play that perfectly with the help of a metronome, then she woud listen do that as she synchronises the background melody and base. Then that can be edited together but it takes many takes and long hours of practice to get this right. A lot of songs I knew how to sing well on my own took months to get right with a pianist let alone the added violinist. The music sheet might be perfect, but we as humans aren't computers that just replicate. When we perform, it's never perfectly according to the sheet, that's where the true skill comes in and people are able to make tiny adjustments in the moment. This component isn't possible in a video like this so she has to go layer by layer and listen to what she has to determine whether or not it's accurate.
Aaah! When I was younger, my band director purchased a Selmer rosewood bass clarinet for me to play. I ABSOLUTELY was not good enough to justify it, but it's so comforting to hear what it's actually supposed to sound like! You are incredibly talented.

To anyone feeling discouraged by this video, read this: You could study music for your entire life and live to be 110 and still never know all there is to know about music. No two musicians skills and abilities are the same. You can be as good as this if not better if you put forth the effort to do it. This person has clearly put a lot of time into developing their skills and practicing them. So here's what you need to do. You need to try and not give up. If you want to learn to play music like this, you can AND will be able to do it if you try. If you don't want to play music like this, then you likely won't try to make it this far. Learning music is a slow and long process, even for professionals, and if you're unwilling to try, you will not be able to get better. If you've been trying and are not seeing as much improvement, what improvements can be made? Sometimes our instruments are defective which make it hard to learn or our technique isn't exactly what it needs to be to make the sounds you want, but how do we change that? Are you taking private lessons? It costs money, but your improvement will be greater with a teacher. Or perhaps you are in band at your school. Your teacher is always a fantastic resource and theoretically should be willing to help you learn musical things you don't understand. If your teacher is not willing to help you learn things you don't understand, maybe you should remind them of what their job is. Long story short, ask questions. People know the answers somewhere and can always help. You can absolutely do it if you try, but it is never easy and takes a lot of hard work. YOU GOT THIS.
