In July 2020 I travelled back my native region, the High Pyrenees, for a section hike of the HRP. This episode is from days 4 and 5, starting in Arrémoulit and ending in the Marcadeau valley.

It must be awful to feel unwell on a trail like that, especially when you have a difficult pass to overcome the following day. Good to see you made it okay and it was a magical trip with some many stunning views, as well as very changeable weather. You sure earned that swim in the river at the end, take care and Merry Christmas, cheers Alan

Thanks Alan! It wasn't the best at the time but I later learnt it was mild altitude sickness which time helped relieve. I have such good memories from these two days. They were truly magical. Take care and hope you have a good festive period, however you are spending it. Cam

Wonderful and great scenery. Your worry about crossing the snow fields and pass reminded me of my own concerns in a similar situation in the Pyrenees, I was leading a group of six travering the icey snow with an ever steepening slope falling away to blue icey water below and I called out "stop turn back" and we found a different route over the pass. On reaching the refuge on the other side the warden said he had seen no one for a month becsuse of all the snow. An exciting hike. Thanks Cam. I can hear the occasional Scottish twang in your accent. 👍

Ooh how interesting! These days are the most memorable ones, aren't they? Good on you for turning back! I've had to turn back a few times in Scotland but touch wood, never in the Pyrenees. Do you remember where that pass was? (haha yeah I don't notice the Scottish twang but I've been told ;) ) Cam

@@CamHikes sorry Cam earlier in the year I passed on my guide book and maps, ive looked on line but cannot find it. I recall we crossed a Dam on a little train to start the day and then ascended the pass from there.👍

@@DaveGoodman1959 It sounds like it was near Artouste as they have a dam and the little train there. Maybe Pass of Pallas, Arrious or Arremoulit :)

@@CamHikes after decending the pass we stayed at refuge Migouelou so it could have been pass D Artouste. I wish I had not passed my map and book on now its bugged me all day, anyway I got my photos and memorabilia out to look at. It was June 2004. 👍

Well done Cam, enjoyed watching this clip. And chapeaux (do you say that in English too?) for pushing through and keeping your mind cool. Feelings shitty and having to do a lot of hiking in unpredictable weather is no bueno. Love your positivity!

Thanks pal! It was altitude so time did its thing and I felt better the following day. (that's not saying in English I don't think but don't stop using it!)

@@CamHikes for anybody else reading these comments; in Dutch we say chapeaux, or "hats off". It's basically me saying, well done 👏🏻. Glad to hear it wasn't unfiltered water and cow poop. That would not be bueno.
