I think it's also due to the fact that 90's was the era where they really started the mixing and matching of all the decades of the 20th century; both in mainstream (street) and high fashion. Which parallels with our society today. I found it interesting that the 90's didn't really have a distinct silhouette as other decades prior to it, yet still managed to have an observable aesthetic.

@@atear6552 designer is catered to upper-middle class. to them, it is a status symbol, but to rich RICH people, it's an indicator that they're on different levels. ive worked with crazy rich people and they always wore bespoke. one of them even said to me once that bombarding yourself with designer is practically free advertising for the brand.

Kamila Jurczyńska it’s normal but it’s also a lot, like if you’re at their concert you obviously are their fan so why feel the need to advertise your love of a band if it’s already clear? I personally think it’s more fun to try go all out with your own style, or go full costume and emulate a look from a music video of theirs or just something wacky random and unexpected (like a batman costume or something). It also depends on who you’re seeing too, like the batman thing might be fun at a more campy, punk or upbeat kind of show like the garden or hmltd, but maybe not so much at one that is more intense and personal like anna von hausswolf or swans or something. Idk that’s just my thoughts lol

What I love about this challenge is 1. people can finally turn out some looks again after being stuck inside for so long (as a European in lockdown I definitely miss seeing well dressed people) and 2. you can finally see some of these designer pieces you usually only see on the runway/on celebrities being styled by the average person with an interest in fashion which means they actually invested in these pieces and cherish them more.
