I read the manual and it actually has 3x sensors near the middle of the back. If you sweep your foot across all 3x of them and don't stand too close to the car it seems to work every time. It was a huge mystery to me before lol, you really need to know exactly what to do to get it to work every time.

I think my legs are 2 short for the back door inductive but my husband who is over 6ft tall can only get it to work sometimes

Do you have to hold your tongue out for the kick sensor opening? HAHA. Only works sometimes for me. yes all set up for Inductive opening and also i have key in my hand. I thought the tow bar install may have impacted the sensor but I note that you too have tow bar

What works well is to kick the underside of the car slightly (beyond the bottom of the bumper). Its just to get as close as possible. It helps. Mine doesn't ALWAYS pick up, but it does 9 out of 10 times..
