As a Black American who has never been to Africa, something about the opening of this song makes me tear up every time. He has such a powerful and ancestral voice. But it's not just the voice of Africa, it's the voice of Humanity, his voice touches people from every corner of the globe because we all came from the same place at some point.

I'm a descendant of enslaved Africans in Cuba and Puerto Rico. My grandmother practiced Santeria, a religion of African practices mixed with the Spanish Catholic religion that they were forced to partake in. When they were alone, they practiced their own beliefs (voodoo). It developed into Santeria over time. Im way off topic but seeing Africa in the way that it should be shown, the real beauty of the continent. It also reminds me of my childhood. Even then I was mesmerized by the beauty.

I'm a 35 year old male and every time i hear this song i'm moved to tears. Maybe it's the memories to my childhood, maybe it's the meaning of the song which i now understand more, maybe it's the energy this song gives off, maybe it's everything together. Some people laugh at me when they see me do it as a man, but this song just goes right trough me and i can't really help it. This song is just epic.

This "dude" is Lebohang Morake from South Africa. Also known as Lebo M, he is a South African producer and composer, known for his songwriting and vocal work on the soundtracks to films such as The Lion King, The Power of One and Outbreak and numerous stage productions. He was recommended to Disney by Hans Zimmer, the composer of both adaptations of The Lion King, and formed and conducted the African choir that sang for the films. He is a big name in the international music arenas, and I'm truly surprised that so few people know this.

Whenever I miss my brother, I watch this video. It feels like I go back in time to when I was still with him. This is the last video we watched together the night before he died. I had a lot of regrets because I was not able to even talk to him before I went to work that Saturday morning. It gave me a trauma, and that's why I get so paranoid and make sure to say my goodbyes before I leave. I always think that this may be the last chance I'll have to see them. He was so young; he could've done so much more. His passing was so sudden and tragic, and it gave me so much pain. Sad, but I still somehow feel happy because the memory of him still feels vivid, like I can remember all the details. It's been 5 years.

Im as white as snow. Irish and British heritage, born in London, UK. But i that intro makes me want to cry tears every time I listen. We all know Mother Africa is the birth of all humans. And i feel something deep in my bones when i hear this music, like it’s embedded into my DNA 🧬 ❤️❤️❤️

Tho I'm an Indian, whenever I hear African music, or just look at pictures of Africa, I just end up overwhelmed and in tears...Something about that land makes me feel connected to it and this song is just on another emotional level man

Africa is where mankind began, every human being (in a certain symbolic way) had its origins in Africa. I've heard from people who visit Africa for the first time, and how they often feel a strange deep connection with the land, as if it had always held a place in their lives. I myself haven't had the change to visit, even though it's on my bucket list lol

A lot of times when people perform live they don't sound as good. Even when they sound good, they don't sound _as_ good. This guy, a whole two decades after the fact, sounds just as flawless and powerful as he did in the movie, maybe even better. Incredible.
