my aunt Bethany is the one on the left with the brown bangs; my mom sang in free spirit in the late 80s too. they gave me a deep love and call to sing for Jesus all my life that i am proud and hopeful to live into. listening to this after showing this to my Presbyterian friends at the easter vigil yesterday, who did not know Christian hymns could sound like the Mamas and the Papas. i know this album so well from hearing it as a child and finding it here as an adult. grateful. happy Easter! Christ is Risen!

Elizabeth, thank you so much for your response! One of the girls on the album, Sharlene McLarin, responded to my post of "Didn't He Shine". As I told her, I've listened to Free Spirit, and especially this album, for 50 years since I first heard it at age 12. It has been a huge blessing to me all my life.
