The UK when it had an identity, industry, regional variations, housing, a living wage, and actual human rights instead of just being allowed to have a sex change.

Jesus Christ. Just watched the version of this scene from the movie and it's not a patch on this. Mos Def and Martin Freeman are horribly miscast.

I thought they did a great turn and put their own unique spin on the roles instead of just rehashing earlier versions. Some people though Ford and Trillian should not have been cast by Americans because HHGTG is such an English institution. I get that. But Arthur Dent is supposed to be a sort of everyman character, the only man to survive the destruction of the Earth, and I thought that he did an excellent job.

Wow, I'm so glad I watched the 2005 version before I watched this trash because the version I saw led me to the actual books. And these actors were fucking garbage in comparison just to the books but then the 2005 version really set it off. Even though they changed things i would never have read the actual books if not for the 2005 movie. If i saw this first, i doubt I would have appreciated ACDs true wit

I'm pleased you liked the books, but the movie was trash. Way too American. This TV series followed the original radio series with several actors from that radio series.

@@davidcopplestone6266 Speaking as an American, I agree 100%. The movie was total garbage.
