A clarification: In this lesson, some sentences are present perfect *simple* (ex: "They have been married..."); others are present perfect *continuous* (ex: "I have been working..."). Both the present perfect simple and present perfect continuous are aspects of the *present perfect* tense. The same is true of the past perfect tense.

Excuse me.. I teach my students those tenses, and for your example (he has been the CEO ... /Present perfect) I use the term of 'nomimal sentence' and so far they're doing good. I've using the term of nominal and verbal sentence for teaching tenses to my students.. If you have any correction for me, please, I'm happy to hear that..

Hello Learn English Lab, I am a fluent English speaker and have been my entire life, You are a very great teacher for those who have trouble with their English. But I have a question, do you speak any languages other than English? I've always been trying to learn Hindi/Urdu and Nepali. There aren't too many good resources for learning those languages. So, I was wondering if you speak any of those languages. Thanks for helping so many people

Sir, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Before watching your excellent videos, I always could not understand the difference between have, has and had been, but after watching your videos, I immediately understood, and my English has also improved from 10/20 to 18/20 for quizzes. I searched for numerous teachers, but none of them could explain it like you did. You are the best👍👍

Hey sir! Loved your video. I have a question- Sometimes I'm unable to focus on the books I read, my mind starts wandering when I'm reading and I can't remember what I have read just 10 minutes ago. How should I deal with this problem to build a good focus?
@LearnEnglishLab
@LearnEnglishLab 7 жыл бұрын
I have that problem too. So what I do I use the timer on my phone. I tell myself that I will read for 10 minutes without interruption, then I start the timer and put my phone in front of me. Until the timer hits 10:00, I read and don't allow myself to get distracted. After 10:00 I take a small break and repeat the process. I've been doing this for a few years, and I can actually go up to 30-40 minutes now. I don't use WhatsApp or Facebook so being interrupted by notifications is not a problem for me - you might want to turn these off if you use them :)

In this lesson, some sentences are present perfect simple (ex: "They have been married..."); others are present perfect continuous (ex: "I have been working..."). Both the present perfect simple and present perfect continuous are aspects of the present perfect tense.

Ratnakar Vanapalli yess because 2 actions happened in past, you HAD insufficient funds and then you GOT it in the past, so 2 actions in the past are done and are not continued, so had been is right there,

a big 👍 but I got 9/10 , could u plz explain me the 4th one becoz I thought ''had been" instead of has been where did I go wrong??
@LearnEnglishLab
@LearnEnglishLab 7 жыл бұрын
Good job! (4) "A young man has been arrested in connection with the robbery." - this is the passive voice (2nd use). The young man has recently been arrested. The sentence only has one action, so there's no need to use 'had been'. Compare this with: "The prisoner who escaped had been arrested for a robbery." - two actions - 'had been arrested' (first), 'escaped' (second) :)

Thanks, I liked the concept of using Had been - Two events one completed in past and another started in past and still continuing. I was writing an email to my general manager. I wanted to understand how can I use had been. Now its clear to me. However; as you mentioned in your videos it may take some time to get habitual. Thanks again.

You are talking about present perfect continuous tense. It consist of two past event The completed event and also continuous event. For instance, I had been eating when she came in. Am grateful ,I learnt all this from him.

May be sir's voice is so perfect as your saying it can't be easy to get for beginners but let me tell you this is the reason why most of us not able to become good English speakers though we know complete grammar. Simply learning Grammar will not let us to become good speaker rather one should try to understand the importance of proper pronunciation in English and sir is doing the right thing. This is what I observed from Ganesh sir's lectures

Learn English Lab so when we use past perfect it compulsory to use simple past as well , is it?
@LearnEnglishLab
@LearnEnglishLab 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is. But the simple past action/event does not need to be included in the same sentence if it is mentioned before.
