I shaped my own boards for Fiji. Was still sanding them when I got there. All 6’4 but squeeze in mid 40’s on the volume. Loads of push which makes the waves easier to catch. Surfed 4-5 foot clouds and Biggest day was 6 foot restaurants. Boards went sick. Restos is a perfect wave

Feeling confident with my choices. Will see when it's reality time.

I love the quiver! Mine is very similar and I live in Hawaii. 6' XL Pyzalien 2 for the smaller days, 6'1" XL Shadow for the 4-6ft and 6'3" XL Ghost for 6-8ft and then I have a 6'8" Mini Padillac for anything over 8ft.

Thanks. I took a look at the 6'8" Mini Padillac and the 6'10" Padillac, but decided to save my money. I'd never use either in NZ realistically except maybe once a year, and I don't get out in anything here over 8ft (rare to have 10' surf anywhere here) to feel comfortable doing so.

Epic! I'm off to Fiji next week myself and will be taking my Shadow 6"8 and Ghost 7"0, both XLs. Surfing the Coral coast and hopefully will get to Cloudbreak if it's pumping. It's going to be fantastic to compare with your feedback. Cheers 👍 I wish you the best and hope you score.

Same to you. Let me know how you go with those boards and the waves.

My friend came back from fiji and cloudbreak was consistently head high+. I think you will score some fun ones

@@foxgd88 I've been watching the online forecasts for quite awhile now. It's regularly 2-4+, so here's hoping. Thanks.

I loved my time in Samoa. Hope you linked up with Neil at Manoa tours. His knowledge of the breaks was legendary. My favorite surf was at Boulders, that crazy point like type break. Take off was 10m away from the cliff then stretched out and bent all the way down the point. Wave of my life. And Guillotine's was a crazy slab. I took a 6'0 square tail and a 6'2 semi step up. Served me well. I've surfed Fiji but was young so just surfed out front of the Hideaway Resort. Thick heavy right hander. You know what you're up to with ya quiver.

We were the first in to Samoa after they opened up following COVID. Neil was in the States but Manu who works with him looked after us. We snorkeled around Boulders because it was flat. Sounds like you got it on. The surf was very average but we had a nice time.

@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms oh woh, yea could still see plenty of devastation when I was there. Really felt for the locals who still had such positive spirits and awesome bunch of people. I almost didn't go to boulders that day, Neil twisted my arm and wow. Doesn't break often though when when it does it is a magnificent wave. All the best in Fiji.

I took a 6’3 short board to Samoan Teahupoo and thought I was going to die. I reckon you will be on your Phantom most of the time, given it’s your favourite and will give you confidence in unfamiliar and fast waves. If it’s barrelling too to bottom you might go for the Ghost. Hope the trip goes well.

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, I figure my Shadow XL will be my main go to with the Ghost as next choice. Cheers.

Just keep tabs on the swells. You'd hate to get all time 12ft and think, shoot if only I had a gun. I probably wouldn't go out either, though when you're there and see perfection, it'd suck to have the main reason as you didn't bring the correct board for the job. There's some pretty big storms bringing big swells up there atm.
@tui_ruwhiu_wavecomms6 ай бұрын
Yea, I've wrestled with those thoughts and decided against it. Everybody says you can go to Restaurants or somewhere else if Cloudbreak's too big for you. I've heard there's a big swell atm. I'm locked in to dates so will just have to manage what we are confronted with. Cheers.
