Extremely dark deep racing green instead of black, would make the car far more unique, yet British and stylish. Delete the roof spoiler, and body paint the roof panel. Put the side mirror forward, it is also far easier to drive with it. Don’t space the tire, it will change the geometry significantly.

It’ll look great once the orange is gone. Paint the roof spoiler the same color as the wheels, it’ll look awesome! Sort of like a Lancia Stratos. The side mirror definitely needs to be moved forward, the targa top needs to be body color, and those exhaust tips are fine as they are (they’ll also look better once the orange is gone)

I like what you have planned for the 308 body. I agree deleting the roof spoiler is a good idea and make it look clean, as will colour matching the targa top and making the whole car black. Only then will the gold rims really work (but if it was my car, I'd have kept them OEM silver). Cut the exhaust tips? Hmmm... kinda reminds me of 1960s Ferraris and jags. But will look fine if done correctly.

I think the gold looks good with the black. I think gold would look well with a white car as well. Likely best to stick with black. Side mirrors look a bit worn - are there other options for a newer mirror? Further forward does look better. Myself I like the little spoiler - unique touch. Definitely needs a respray. Targa roof same color seems logical.

Yes to black body colour (really goes well with the gold rims), delete the spoiler (I agree, it ruins the lines), yes to the body coloured targa roof panel (gives more of a flow like you say) and move those mirrors (what were the Americans thinking?). Also, chop those exhausts off! Not sure about wheel spacers - might look good, but what of geometry (scrub radius and whatnot)?

excellent, everyone is agreeing to the mods. If I do a spacer it will be very subtle 10mm maybe 15 mm hardly noticeable but just enough, i dont think it will play havoc with any scrubbing etc

1) Get rid of the spoiler. 2) Match the Targa Top to the car color. 3) MOVE the mirror. The current location is the WORST! 4) Definitely change the wheels to SILVER. The Gold looks tacky. 5) The wheel spacers are a great idea. 6) Do, please do, shorten the exhaust tips. Mostly the idea should be to clean the car up. Minimize the after-market effects.

It's personal but for me the gold wheels are more to do with the motorsport tradition at Ferrari and look better with red. But they would certainly make a black car stand out. If you're looking for a colour change though and don't want red then gold goes very well with dark metallic green. Spoiler and roof, agree; it would make the car look cleaner. Ditto the mirrors; they are meant to help you see behind. I never like using spacers though, even if it's only half an inch. They are particularly bad for steering geometry and it's a good enough looking car without them.

The rims looked better than I thought they would. I think that the tires made them look smaller and less exotic. If I was going on the appearance I would definitely go with a low profile tire.I do remember though that years ago I had Pirellis and bought bigger rims and new tires which looked better, but the first time I drove with them in the rain I noticed a huge difference and did not feel like I had made a wise decision.

The black-gold theme is a bit 1970 JPS (John Player Special) , nice on a Lotus but a bit awkward on a Ferrari imo. For cars like this i like bright summer colors. (Deep)Purple metallic would work well with those gold rims. Spoiler can go off. Makes no sense anyway. Roof in body color. If you want truely nice mirrors, get them from a Citroen CX (very last facelifted edition) . Late model Lotus Esprit uses them too. They are aerodynamic and would suit the design of the 308/328 imo

I would swap the rims put the gold ones on the silver car and the silver wheels would go better with the black car (when the black car will be fully painted of course) keep the exhaust like they are (there is a reason for those to be longer, you don't wanna burn or melt the rear bumper) add some Scuderia Shields on the fenders on both cars silver & black when they done.. ;0)

Even back when Gold Rims were a thing, it was not all that appealing. It is period correct, but Silver/Gray is always best for a Rim. Ditch the Roof Spoiler Paint the Targa Panel Body Color. As for the Mirrors, put them where they give the best visibility to for the driver (Function always gives the best Form) Note, they do look best at the leading edge of the two choices you showed.

Fwiw- I am a car designer/stylist for a large OEM. I would go with Black (maybe a subtle mettalic black since your not keeping it original anyway), keep the gold wheels, delete the roof spoiler, paint the roof panel and move the mirrors to the euro position. Spacers would be good as well. 100% cut the tips in line with the rear bumper. Give it that budget 288GTO vibe.

Two tone with gold lower to match the wheels, is what I'm thinking. I agree on moving the mirrors and shortening the exhaust (don't cut them at the end, but rather cut a piece out further in, and reweld them. ) As for the roof spoiler, i think a wedge spacer to angle it more upwards, and maybe adding a little lip to it would make it much more aggressive, and maybe suit the car better.

Once you sort out the paint and it’s all black (including removable roof) those gold wheels will look awesome. Also think moving the mirrors forward will be a huge improvement. Your ideas are all solid. Don’t second guess yourself, just get it done and it will look stunning. Also made me wonder how good those vents behind the back wheels on the 288 GTO would look on the 308 ( just thinking out loud).

Wheels will look better once the car is all on colour. Shift the mirrors, loose the spoiler, body colour the roof! Looks odd with the orange, it takes away from the look and just doesn’t look right yet!!

When bumpers will match body colour it will look ok. Just put some wheel spacers on it, lower the suspension, delete the roof spoiler, throw that exhaust and those side mirrors to the bin, make a racing custom high flow lightweight exhaust, install a pair of tiny carbon side mirrors, install carbon racing bucket seats and a suede steering wheel, a white shift knob like the F40GTE, fix the rusted front left fender, polish the body paint and clean the whole car mate. I can bet it will look awesome

I agree with everything you plan to do on the 308. Also the gold wheels. There is just one thing, the yellow wheel centers don't work with the gold, make them contrast against the gold or have another color on the wheels. Maybe red brakes and wheel centers.

That roof spoiler would make a big difference in handling. Lancia found while developing the stratos that the air came over the roof and swirled on top of the engine area making dead space and at high speed suck the car off the road effecting grip. they fitted the roof spoiler to direct air onto the engine bay cover and off the back of the car.

Definitely move the mirrors to euro spec , yes on the same body color everything, I'd keep the roof spoiler just to have something different from the silver one, trim the exhaust, and paint the wheels red but at the end of the day it's yours so you have to be happy with the colors. What's the word on the one that you stripped completely down are you waiting on parts?

I think your mods would suit it nicely, though I would keep the spoiler because it makes it a little different. Black with gold wheels and a subtle drop would be great. I'd put decent tyres on it though, with normal sizes you can get very good tyres for not much extra money over the cheapo ones. I keep seeing your 456 in the background of your videos - are you working on it or using it at the moment?

Filling the centre of each wheel spoke with gloss black would tone it down a little, then a putting a red pinstripe around the edge of the rims would colour match it to the upholstery and give it a more classic look.

How about a "Boxer" style paint scheme? Rosso Corsa above the belt line, black below. I'd have kept the QV wheels silver, but they're now painted and look great, so leave as-is. KEEP the original QV spoiler, but paint to match. Targa? Go ahead and paint to match, too. Can you see those mirrors while driving, if they're relocated all the way up front? If so, just get a new set and you're good to go with a fine 308!

Black all around, yes, keep the gold wheels, paint the roof black, refinish the spoiler, chop the tips, leave the mirrors stock, sort the suspension, and do the spacers. You've got enough that you can have fun with one of those old beaters, and none of those would ruin it. It will still be a slow Ferrari but it will look great :)

Hard to see past the orange when looking at the wheels, but I think once all painted black they will look fine; especially once you bring them out closer to the fender edge with spacers and get the ride height dialed in. I do like the roof spoiler and would keep. I would also suggest leaving the targa in matte finish. Just my thoughts. Love these old cars. Thanks!

I think the gold wheels will look great when everything is painted black. I would do the targa top body color and keep the hood scoop. It doesn't have the sleek lines of one without, but it adds a muscular feature that will look mean when its finished and painted.
