Bob & Hillary, Thank you so much for taking the time to video review our newest pride and joy, "Critter the Campground Kryptonite". A perfect scrappy cross between a racoon, armadillo and oposum. He can get out further and stay longer than your lesser equipted critters. This is our 6th RV in about 10 years. Two Class A's, one Class C, one Class B, and a towable before this. For us, we finally hit the sweet spot, considering our specific needs. This video of yours was so much fun for us to watch. I'm sure most people don't know you spent almost 3 hours shotting and something like 30+ hours editing just one video like this. My videos take the exact amount of minutes to shoot as you see in the finished product, and I have never spent even 1 minute editing. Partly because I don't know how, and partly because you just took away any incentive I might have had to learn. I'm going to go back and watch this again now. Thank you, and we hope to see you again soon. Rick & Sherri.

Great RV. In a rig this small and nimble there are always sacrifices. Only questions are there any issues with exhausting steam from the shower since the fan is in the water closet or does the fan in the dining area take care of that? Also do you use the over dinette storage for wardrobe or are you keeping your clothes somewhere else like below the bed or in the bathroom?

I'm not a huge factory-made RV guy, but this Cross Trail is very tempting and this is the best video showcasing it. Not too big, lots of features, great floorplan, a chassis I trust and that can be serviced in any town, and capable of off-grid for a decent amount of time. The owners have also kitted it out perfectly. Like the added solar, the additional TV, and the way they set up the garage.

$136,000 seems a little bit on the high side. It does appear to be a nice RV though. I would believe the value to be closer to a low of $89,000, to a high of about $129,000. Manufacturers are doing everything they can to try to drive up the MSRPs. Also, 12 mi per gallon approximate, it's a little bit concerning. However, to be fair, this is pretty typical for recreational vehicles. Manufacturers really need to consider putting in hybrid engines, because this could raise fuel economy up to 25%. Plug-in hybrids would even be better. They could also put heat extension/diffusion fins on the engine to allow quicker heat transfer away from the motor, increasing fuel economy at tiny bit by lowering the engine temperature and also creating a semi air-cooled engine. Think about the old air-cooled VW motors. In other words make a modern version of the VW motor. RV technology really needs to improve, especially in areas of quality and fuel economy.

Can't beat the price for sure. Personally, I prefer the a class B built within a van body for long term use, but this does have some nice features. Also, I question whether the curtains separating the cab insulate as well as the insulated interior window covers that are typical. We are about to go ski camping in our van at 7200' and temps as low as 9F, so we will find out how well insulated ours is real soon!
@ricktanner98177 ай бұрын
Great observation. We actually carry 3 blackout systems. The first came with the RV and is a large one piece cover that wraps around the outside and covers all cab windows. This is great if you are expecting snow. Take it off and you are left with a clean windshield and side windows. The second is custom fitted and insulated single window covers that go on the inside. This is good for cold weather as it also provides insulation. The third is what we use most of the time in mild weather. The blackout curtain that takes about 2 seconds to close or open.

If they really paid 136k that js a deal.. how can that include 800w of solar and 800 AH of lithium? Wow.
@ricktanner98177 ай бұрын
So far we couldn't be happier with the build quality by Coachmen. As we are not new to the RV game, we expected issues along the way but so far, almost none. In 2022 we bought a new Thor Sequence. The day I picked it up from the dealer the plumbing leaked water all over the interior. That wasn't even the worst day. Getting help from either the dealer or Thor was like pulling healthy teeth. We did do a video on all the MOD's we preformed on Critter so far. On power, the only thing we did was add 2 more (200 watt) panels to the roof for a cost of $400. It came with everything else.

I've been watching this one- a clear EKKO clone. The raised bed/garage is fantastic- and the windows in there! The dinette is nicely spacious too. I LOVE induction cooktop. I like it better than EKKO except.... ... it's a 3 season coach not meant for cold weather where EKKO is 4 season. Notice the batteries and water are external Best part is that it's not a Thor! At that price I might consider trading in my Thor Tellaro.

While we were waiting on the RV to be prepped, washed and ready for us to move in, we took a long look at a couple of 2023 models on the lot. You are exactly right in that the changes were more than adding features but replacing materials and construction processes. If this keeps up, they will leave the competition behind. More likely outcome is other models in the class will also make major improvements and we all win.

We have owned both and traveled extensively in both. No issues with either regarding parking and driving comfort. I would say the Ford Transit is far more comfortable to drive than the Dodge Promaster for me. The Coachmen B+ is 24' long but I really don't find it any more challenging than the B Class we had before. The big difference is the interior space. I actually knew one owner who had 2 dogs and made the "garage" below the bed a high end kennel for his little traveling buddies.

It literally wasn't on the dealer lot for 8 hours before we took possession. We officially purchased it just as it was being completed by Coachmen a week or so prior to arriving. Per the window sticker the MSRP for this unit as is was $192,000. The dealer in Texas, MHSRV will typically discount 25% off the sticker for every unity they get in and they keep about 650 to 700 units on the lot at all times. I am sure there are many factors that will go into their decisions to provide further discounts but they did not share those with me. This model was high on our list for going with a class B+, especially with the 2024 upgrades including the 12-volt fridgerator (LOL), induction cook top and convection microwave as well as the renogy battery system. The major issues for us were the east/west configuration of the bed and that it is not a true 4-season rv. We wound up going with the Winnebago Ekko, and of course, we paid a bunch more, but we prefered the twin bed set-up, smaller size, the thicker side walls w/ fiberglass roof, and the 4-season capability. So it all comes down to what y'all want and willing to trade-off. But real issue here is - WHEN IS MR. LEMON GOING TO GO!!

I'd like it better with 2 beds in the back, but love the camper in general

I really love how they have things so organized and not cluttered. It looks so much better and feels so much larger. This is how I have set up our Freedom Express trailer. No junk all over the place! Great Job folks, and SUPER cute rig!!!!

Something that small HAS to be organized - and they NAILED it!

First thing I noticed was the bull artwork. My wife did a very similar style but with an elephant. I had never seen anyone else with a similar style piece of art. 👍. My wife and I watch quite a few different reviews and this as a lifestyle. It was always our plan for RV Life until health issues took us down a different road unfortunately and finances had to go elsewhere. We can still live vicariously through everyone else’s stories. We love them all.

Very sorry to hear of the unexpected change of plans. The art was actually purchased on Amazon a couple of months ago. I wanted a fighting bull to represent the bull market. This is basically our retirement plan. Should we hit a major bear market our plans may change as well.

Great rig and I love everything about it with one exception.....the configuration of the bed. Having to crawl over each other to get up in the middle of the night to use the rest room is a deal breaker for us. Now if they can come up with a twin bed version of this, I'd be seriously thinking about it. Great video, great tour of a great RV. See ya next week!

I thought so too. But. Then the bathroom will be smaller or something. Always give up something

I cannot lie, the climbing over to get out at night is tricky. This coach does come in three different models. This one, a twin bunkbed and a sort of murfy bed which is the 21xg.
@Vancaskeys7 ай бұрын
Agree. The bed situation would be tricky. Bob and talked about that after and that was really our only real concern. But not a deal breaker 😅

no twin bed solution without a slide....dimensions just don't work.

In Europe the "toilet room" is called the "Water Closet" or WC for short...
@Vancaskeys7 ай бұрын
I like that!

I've heard water closet in America quite a few times in the past.

Bed is only so so since one person has to crawl over the other just to pee at night. Price is exelent but it looks like a copy of Winnebago RV

As someone mentioned earlier, this RV came out before the EKKO and like the EKKO has continued to improve over time. The changes from 23 to 24 year models have been huge and there are 3 different bed configurations to choose from. We think the EKKO, like the Granite Ridge by Jayco are exceptional RV's in this class and we considered them all. Much of the decision came down to value. How much am I getting for my hard earned money. While the Cross Trail was our ultimate choice, these are all great RV's and it is clear they are pushing each other to get better and better. May the competition continue! Also he (or she) who pees the lease at night gets the side against the wall. 🚽🚾

When it comes to Innovation, the elevated motorized bed makes so much sense. Previously the Cross Trail seemed confused, neglected and cheap. But this 2024 looks impressive!

Lost me at the east west bed , older folks need leg room to get in and out without disturbing their bedmate.

These early panels on the specs are going by way too quickly. Ease the pace a little.

Very nice RV. Love the shower/ toilet separation. The bed would be a deal breaker for me. From experience, I know they’re nearly impossible to “make” without throwing your back out.

We agree...the bed is the only draw back.

Be careful of Coachmen. We've had two Coachmen RVs over the years and found them poorly engineered especially once they were bought by Forest River.

You were right calling it a class C. It gets me every time someone refers to these as a B Plus. This goes back years. House built around a bare frame = Class A. House built inside the walls of a van = Class B. Hybrid, original cab (truck or van) with house built behind = Class C. At least that's the way it started years ago. Now, every dealer, manufacturer and user has their own name for it. IMHO I know, probably should just keep my mouth shut, 🤣

Makes me want to drive to Texas to trade in my Thor Tellaro '23 20 L! I'm so tired of the build issues, I should name mine Ms. Lemon! And your organization is stellar, just like I try to do with mine, but I don't have the space.
