Great looking car Mike. This is right up my street. Ive never been bothered about gti's, rs's and sri's. The more basic the better. Nice one. You cant beat a 70's and 80's car.

Our ever expanding fleet 🤣 It's in bonkers condition - and whilst it's uncouth to talk about money, believe me it wasn't a lot which again is crazy given the condition and impact it's creating. Put some fuel in it today - 3 people came up for a chat - didn't think I was going to get away - I was at the petrol station for 30 minutes 🤣 Maia thought I must have broken down 😂😂😂😂

Thank you - that's very kind. Unfortunately, because we've only just bought it, we can't enter it in the competition - that closed months ago. But we can attend (as we bought tickets months ago🤣) and see the reaction to it. What will also be interesting - we're going to a Jap car meet today - interested to see the reaction. Will they laugh, cry or ignore?? Watch out for that video coming soon. Thanks for watching

Is this crazy or brilliant?! Don't know 😂 but wow a rare car indeed, great hearing about its history and seeing inside, the boot interior I just can't get over in a 35-year-old car! ❤❤

I read your comment in Svens recent video so i knew it was coming. Its a nice car and simplicity no electric windows or power steering to go wrong all positives. The Nissans of the late 70/80's did stand up well to the passage of time. I remember looking at a Datsun Violet 140j with my Dad it was immaculate but we didn't buy it. There is no reason why it shouldn't go up and down the motorway without issue. They were made for it and you have Japanese reliability on your side. I think the reason its survived as long as it has is because its been cared for by the original and subsequent owners and the fact it lived in a nice South coast resort (Bournemouth) with a mild climate and no salt on the roads. It was probably a retirement car. Nice to see the original 2crFM sticker on the back window. Don't get rid of it, its part of its history. One things for sure it will be a conversation starter when your out and about.

Cheers Glyn, as you say 'Japanese reliability' and without the dreaded rust then we should be on to a winner. Plus it really wasn't a lot of money - seems uncouth to go in to details but trust me - not a lot. I've got the original bill of sale and all the old blue & pink logbooks covering the first 30 years - plus a mountain of history. It's crazy but in some ways I'm more excited about this car than the others 🥴 It's a real oddball. You mention the south coast but I was think salt air - but it must have been garaged so all good. And yes, the sticker is so staying 😄 I put some fuel in it today and 3 people came up to me at the petrol station - didn't think I was going to get away 🤣

@@OldCarsNewVan People always go on about the salt air at the coast. I have never had a problem in that respect if you look after the car, garage it and don't take it down to the sea and wash it in salt you should be ok.🤣

@@OldCarsNewVan I hope you had a good time at the car meet. Back in 2017 I was driving my 1995 white Ford Fiesta MkIII (which was unexceptional in many ways but it was left hand drive!) & I passed a long line (about 3 miles long!) of Japanese cars waiting to get into a Japanese car show at Silverstone. I remember thinking 'If only my car was badged as a Mazda 121 I'd then join the queue!' Mind you it was probably good that I didn't join the queue because there were many accidents & many written off modified cars due to boy racers rounding the bends at excessive speeds & getting caught out by the queueing cars! I counted at least 4 nose-to-tail accidents (one involving at least 4 cars) & one Toyota Supra in a ditch near a roundabout!
@OldCarsNewVan3 ай бұрын
@@DarrenMartin-x9v cheers - yes it was fun - just a little cars & coffee meet so no queues thankfully - but yes, some of the queuing and behaviour can be less than desirable at some of these events. Even at this meet yesterday you'll be able to hear revving engines and the like - don't do themselves any favours with the public do they! Thanks for watching - that video goes live on Saturday.

"This is our new car" - and Mike, it's a real car, not a beeping Ufo like nowadays cars, hehe. I can remember about these Sunny Estates. The hatchback and the coupe were more popular here. I'm thinking the saloon and the estate had the lowest sales over here. And what I always wondered was that the saloon and the hatchback had the same front unlike the other two variants. But I already read that the Sunny Estate (or Sunny Traveller how it was called over here) was also called Nissan Sentra Wagon in the USA. So we probably just got the Sunny badge to complete the Sunny family. There's one thing looking different to the ones I am remembering here. The part between the tail light and the reverse light has been also covered with black plastic over here. I've never seen it blank with the paint of the car. But also I haven't seen so many estates as well. The condition is really looking amazing! Definately a rare car - and even if maybe it is a rare car and no one cars, I bet there will be people who will anyway think "haven't seen one for a long time". I am always happy when I'm seeing one of these because suddenly you're remembering "oh yeah, Nissan Sunny!". And Mike ... the interior is looking so amazing ... definately a great buy! Perhabs even great just to use as a daily during the summer.

Thanks Sven - and thanks for the info re the name Traveller & Sentra which I've now added to the description 👍👍 We love it - could definitely daily it - averaged 50 miles per gallon on the run home which is crazy for an old car

Oh well - in a few years some politician will ban all the cars we love so enjoy them while we can - that's what I say. I still maintain that despite lousy fuel economy these old cars are still more 'green' than any new car - because it already exists. We should all be more 'Cuba'. Rant over :)
