I'll be there for the weekender this year, for my 2nd time. Last year I rescued my weekend w wins in rnds 4&5 and converted a *longgggg* game on the Sunday afternoon to finish 2.5/5, followed by a nightmare travelling home. Good luck in the Masters Danny I'll be watching for your results.

Its too near Christmas and too far away and difficult to get to but it is history- my priority being Welsh though is to go to the Sout Wales international which i have twice made a serious bid to reach and twice been scuppered by a loss of car.

Good luck in the tournament. I've always wanted to play there, but being so near Christmas it's a bit of an awkward time of the year - but one day

I agree, it's not really got the prestige it traditionally had anymore - nearly closed forever a few years back if I recall correctly- and being in at the most awkward time of year in the most expensive and remote county in the country makes it pretty inaccessible to anyone who isn't either extremely wealthy or has literally nothing else to do at Christmas time. Only way I'd ever play it would be if there was free entry, transport and accommodation which will likely be never...

@@TyrannosaurusCHEX surely Sussex isn't the most remote county? It's quite close to London.

I played the minor weekender once and came 3rd. It was about 5 years ago when you went into the last round with a half point lead and unfortunately got caught by about 6 others! David Howell won the Open! Good luck Danny, I really hope you win it. Keep us informed! Cheers.

Do you travel home via London by any chance Danny? I could give you that laptop. If not, it will have to go by Royal Mail. There's some strong players in this year's field! A lot of Chinese too......

@HometownChessHero it's a HP running on windows 10. It's hardly been used as it belonged to my mother. It's possible you need something with more power. I understand if so......

Sadly many of our seaside towns seem to have a particularly bad drug problem these days. I think Petrosian played Hastings one year when the venue was really noisy and everyone was complaining except him (he was quite deaf apparently so wasn’t affected by the noise).

London has the most crime in the whole country, it's literally a lawless hell on earth in some suburbs but they try and cover it all up so they can keep blaming all the problems of the country on brexit

Never! 2019 considered going fell into a depression after a bad uni exam, 2020 didn't take place, 2021 would have went but this omicron variant cancelled it, 2022 had a disaster in my personal life, next 2 years didn't bother. I am the opposite, I play worse in the summer. I might consider it next year but hard to get the days off as it's Christmas and New Year... anyway... good luck!
