Well what a cold one that was! my head definitely wasn't working very well but at least I was out.
What are your thoughts on this kind backwards dropshot rig? seemed to work out exactly as intended for me.
I have some big news coming up as next year I'm planning some big changes. I will drip some stuff in as I go over the next month.
hope you enjoy 😇
for any of you looking for some of the tackle I'm using we have a discount code up for you so go check it out here

Ihave been using that rig for a while, for my LRF fishing. I use luminous float stops to hold the hook as I seem to get more bites that way.

Hello as a new subscriber to your channel. It's a really great idea. A universal set in one! What casting weight do you have on this rod? I have the same Tsurinoya 4-15g rod and it's great. Regards from Ireland.

perch love locks always worth a try if ur passing one had my biggest on a live bait just outside the bottom gate of a lock next to the overflow outlet just under 4ib about 20 years ago now had 3 that day all over 3ib + loads around 2ib on livebaits and worm baits ( was trying for a pike with the live baits as a fair few carp id caught had big pike marks on them was determind to find the culprit never did find the monster pike lol )

What’s that bait supposed to be ? a deflated sea slug ?. joking aside, Perch were always one of my favourite fish to catch when I was young when there were a lot more around.

Excellent video. I have been using this rig for a few weeks now with good results. I use the spro freestyle twitch weight stops as they are really tight fit on your line and hold the hook in position even on the strike. Most of the time. I like the 1 setup on the rod but different presentation of baits. I think that's why it's so successful for me. Keep safe around the ice and tight lines.

Hello James I've only recently discovered your channel and loving the content and yes I have discovered that rig I thought it was just my secret haha I fish canals mainly so my rig is a lot lighter than yours I use 7 lb fluro and tiny hooks sizes 10 and 12 usually use tiny 2 inch shads light green or bright pink and some naturals and catch mainly small perch and zander and it's surprising how I can even land pike around 4 lb as like u say under pressure the float stops slide down to keep the fluro away from the pikes teeth never lost a fish yet ......Thanks for your vids I shall be watching from now on

Question please buddy? Is that rig set with the hook at the bottom, or at the depth you think the fish are feeding. I understand it does slide when a fish takes, it's brilliant, I get that 100%. But where do you set the hook mostly please?

I came up with the same idea a couple of years ago and agree that the addition of the rubbery stoppy things either side of the hook makes the basic drop shot rig much more versatile. I've found that you can use thin wire instead of fluorocarbon in case there are pike about. If you want to see more ideas have a look at Japanese angler Waki's website kzbin.info/door/-95cQmbpGLv-OWvqkzFTiw. where he demonstrates Japanese lure tactics - some of which can be adapted for use in the UK. Hope you've thawed out by now.

I do the same for drop shotting but have swivel below the hook and float stops, its safer, if you snap and the weight gets snagged they can get rid of it all, with the swivel above they have to tow it all round. But the way you attach the hook is the same.

Do anglers in the UK regularly keep perch to eat? It's a big fish in the US to catch and keep and eat. Our limits in NY are 50 per person per day and it's not hard to catch and keep those numbers. The population is very healthy in our lakes even with those numbers. I don't know anyone who purposely catches and releases yellow perch here. Just curious about European practices. Thanks

Freshwater fish is not eaten in UK apart from trout and salmon but in other parts of Europe perch is considered a delicacy.

I have eaten Perch in the UK that I have caught and it's delicious. It's not common here now but in the past most coarse fish were eaten. UK law allows coarse fish to be taken and an amount per day from Rivers that are effectively public (so not owned by an angling club) but nobody does and if they do it tends to be Europeans living in the Uk that still do commonly eat coarse fish. Hope this helps.
