Hi from way down south Texas...yes we also have yellow n red watermelons .
@michaelcanales36832 жыл бұрын
Grew up in south Texas. Family planted watermelons yearly. Been too dry for the past several years. Ended up settling in central Texas. We found watermelons fresh from the field outside of College Station. That too has gone away. Kids live yellow meat.

I also watch veggie boys& Girls videos plus My Stable Life with horses and two donkeys they take care of other peoples horses plus their horses. That is wonderful having a veggie market to sale your crop to other people to help them .You could have donated some to charity organization as well.

Locally grown anything tastes SO much better than store bought stuff. I just got some sweet corn and it melted in your mouth. I pulled up to a local farmers stand and saw they had a huge load of sweet corn. They were $5 for a dozen. I asked if I could have some help because I had a few boxes in the car trunk. I bought twelve dozen ears. I bought six of their honeydew melons. Again, mouth watering. I cleaned and cut them up and put them in freezer bags. In the middle of February, you can add some to a fruit salad or throw some frozen in a smoothie. I got all the corn in freezer bags. I don't mind the extra work because when I serve a meal, I always get compliments. "wow that corn was delicious, what brand was that?" haha. I'm going back for more so I can bag up some for my nieces freezer and some for a nephew. The few ears that were kinda bad I threw out in the front yard. At about 4:30 am, deer come down from a mountain and eat off peoples yards. Look what hard work that is to get those veggies on the wagon and to the market. Farmers don't earn enough for what they do for us.

That's so great that people are able to eat fresh veg. Straight from the farms ..here down south Texas everything comes from other places ..here hardly no more farms....we do have corn season we do have a few farms that plant but here we don't have markets to where people's can go buy freshly from fields....

I bet that yellow watermelon (diced) is good made in a salad with a purple onion, feta cheese, diced cucumber and dressing made w/red vinegar wine & olive oil... It's good with red watermelon too. 🍉 If your red onion is too pungent, slice & soak in cold water first.

When I was a kid back in the 50s, my grandfather had a small farm, or what now would be called a homestead,, in rural Alabama. he would bring us the most delicious, sweetest yellow meat watermelons I have ever had. A few years ago I found seeds for it at Baker Creek. The best by far.

Yes i have. It has been a long time but they were good. We ate them Arkansas. Only good melons now adays are grown from heritage seeds. The melons sold most places now are grown to fast, no flavor an most over ripe by the time they get to market.

In fact I planted Yellow watermelon seeds in my backyard this summer just to see what sort of result I would get. I planted them in two different locations one plant only has 2 watermelons while the other has 5 watermelons on the go. Next year I’m going to try a few more variety’s like Orangeglo and Moon and stars.

I'm I correct you grow seeded and also seedless red and yellow watermelons? Except the seeds, what's the difference why you grow both versions please?
@BroyansFarm2 жыл бұрын
We only grow yelled seeded watermelon, everything else is seeded. Most people say the yellow is a little sweeter, but we grow it just for the variety. Not everyone wants the same thing always and it’s fun to have different things here on the farm. Usually the sugar babies are the sweetest (red seedless watermelon). Great question thanks for watching!!
