Have you seen those Misleading Mobile Game Ads?
They're quite popular, usually showcase some sort of Pin Puzzle game with Liquids and Gas.
However the reality is if you click on them you end up in a mobile game that has nothing to do with the what is shown in the ads, usually it's a Match-3 game.
Anyways the idea shown in the ads did seem interesting so I thought why don't I try to turn that into reality.
And with that the Misleading Ads Game was made!

Seeing that you are distributing this on steam does make me wonder whether you have considered adding workshop integration. Though a proof of concept the engine is there would be great if it could load levels as assets from the steam workshop. There is a lot of variety that could be accomplished with just the handful of default particle types, though could go even further if the ability to load custom particle scripts was available so that new and interesting interactions could be introduced. Seems like there is so much scope in the basic mechanics there. Also seems like this aligns well with your goal of introducing people to unity game development as it provides opportunities for smaller starter projects that make for a gentler learning curve to produce fun results and still get the satisfaction and feedback from sharing their creations. Lots of indie game developers do start out making things like mods for existing games as they are a great way to learn the needed skills with smaller-scale projects that are less overwhelming in scope which can be less daunting and feel more achievable for beginners.

You could separate the liquids in the shader by having one color channel per liquid, so one liquid in red, one in blue and one in green. Then you split the colors to get the mask.

If you make a rule that says "don't lie", people can defend themselves by saying "you need to prove it was a deliberate lie, otherwise I did nothing wrong". @@CodeMonkeyUnity If you think about it - it's pretty clever. They (big companies like Playrix with their Homescapes/Gardenscapes) already eaten up all the audience they can reach with normal ads, so they experience very big challenge as the traffic becomes very expensive for them (cost per click for casual games). So now with these fake ads they can have tiny CPC and attract new users who didn't think they ever install homescapes/gardenscapes. And their games are catchy so as soon as a careless player installs them thinking of pin-puzzles - she gets lured into the core match3 gameplay and got hooked forever :)
