Hello Lena. I enjoy following your charming and lively channel. This video is especially interesting. You've. created a really effective underpainting and the wonderful thing about oils is how one can build up layers of paint subsequently so that the colours become richer and subtler. Your finished paintings have a special character; lively, vibrant and sensual. Watching you on KZbin is a treat.

Hey Lena! I just wanted to tell you how much I loved your videos! I started teaching myself how to paint about 2 years ago, and in the last year I started using youtube to help me learn better techniques and understand color mixing and other helpful things. I came across your videos while searching how to paint skin tones, in your extremely helpful skin-tone mixing tutorial. You have no idea how much that video helped me. Ever since then I have kept up with your videos. Your time-lapse videos are some of my favorites. Even those have helped me to understand painting techniques better, even though I use acrylic instead of oil. Anyway, you have inspired me so much that I have started to film myself painting and will post my own time-lapse videos of what I paint. Just wanted to let you know how much you have inspired me and what an impact you have had on my development as a painter. Keep up the amazing work! I always love watching your videos!

I'm glad to see someone who thinks it's ok to use a grid. I usually use a grid to get proportions right. I just draw the grid onto my sketch paper and then transfer the finished sketch onto canvas etc. But your way of drawing the grid onto canvas eliminates that extra stage.

Not sure if you'll see this, but I'm wondering if you are willing to have to separate cameras or even three, one for your computer or the image that you're emulating, one for your palette, and one for your canvas. I think holding the camera while you're going through the motions could be a bit distracting and it would be cleaner in presentation. This is a really cool thing that you do to help other artists so thank you.

Is there a reason why you chose to put such a large variety of colours on your palette? Does it do a better job of preserving the vibrant hues in your artworks than a smaller or limited range of colours would?
@LenaDanya7 жыл бұрын
Although I use a lot of different kinds of one color, like blue or green, they often contain unique pigments which allow for much more variety in colors that could not be achieved just by mixing together a limited palette. Phthalos for instance, are transparent, so they can be used to tint other colors without altering it's tone too much
