I’m afraid of committing too young and not exploring what’s out there before it’s too late
@ZenRoseGarden4 жыл бұрын
Then explore? Take a look at where the pressure is coming from to settle down and lock something in. While you're young, you have the freedom to explore. If you're in a relationship for convenience, or because it's what you're supposed to do, nobody in the relationship is going to really benefit. It might be better for all parties involved to be as honest with each other and yourselves as possible. Nobody really wants a relationship that isn't amazing, and you get there by being true to yourself and the people around you as much as possible. Hope that helps, Jena.

Zen Rose Garden thank you for the response! I’m currently in a committed relationship and it’s wonderful but I think my doubts stem from the fact that I don’t know if this person and I are compatible in the long long run. I’m more of an adventurous free spirit while he is more of a of a cautious and conservative person. The relationship is perfectly fine right now and I absolutely love him very much but if I’m being 100% honest I’m not sure if this is going to be the one that lasts.

Um... what if you are in a long distance relationship but you have a crush on someone you see every day? The long distance relationship is perfect expect for not being able to physically be together but you are still having a crush with the person you see every day?
@ZenRoseGarden6 жыл бұрын
Our question would be what role does the person in physical proximity fill for you?
@Renny_Boy6 жыл бұрын
@@ZenRoseGarden I feel like she might fill that need to just physically see the person every day. To feel their presence, feel their warmth when they are close to you, give you those butterflies when you see them, ect. It's not so much a sexual need more then just validation that they are there for you

Then I would say to take a look at how that feels inside to you. Keeping in mind that your mind itself can create those feelings inside that your mind ends up craving. At that point you're giving your body permission to trigger those chemicals inside of your brain that make you feel good. It's likely going to lead to a moment of decision either way. Either the long distance relationship will be enough to fulfill you, the situation changes and it's no longer long distance, or it won't be enough and you might shift into something that does satisfy more parts of you. Either direction it takes the key thing I would look at is how you choose to grow from the situation. How can the situation itself help you be more in line with what feels right inside for you. That way everything becomes a lesson instead of torture or torment.

I want to be open with my partner about my attraction to my coworker, but I don't want to hurt her feelings. I know that no matter how clinical and objective I try to be about it, she will feel hurt and threatened. She'll feel like I'm not attracted to her anymore, and there would be a little truth to that. I love her more then ever, but attraction has wained somewhat throughout the 5 year relationship. To be honest, it's been due to an unhealthy amount of weight gain (which is another subject a struggle to discuss with her). I like a little chubbiness but honestly it gone a bit too far. 😬 Please don't hate, I'm just being honest because I love my GF.

We're not here to hate or pass judgement on your situation. The question would have to land along the lines of if this person stays the same, or follows along the same path they're on now, could you see yourself with them 10 years from now? This situation is not about being clinical or objective, but real with yourself. The level of attraction you have can be a subconscious indication of where your mind is way before your conscious mind knows what's going on (which is why it can be confusing). The other question might be, are you holding this person back from finding someone who can and does accept them fully as they are with all of the choices they're making? I would suggest to not muddy the waters with another person in the mix until you're more clear about what you want and need from a partner without a third party making it more difficult. Explore YOUR reason for the wandering interest, and be as honest as you can with yourself, outside of holding on just because you love someone.

@@ZenRoseGarden Thanks, and I wasn't too worried about you guys judging, but you know how KZbin comment sections can be these days... You got a good point, that the real issue isn't necessarily that I'm attracted to another woman, but rather that I'm not attracted to my own partner (which is convoluted even further by the fact that culture seems to tout the idea that losing attraction for your partner is inevitable) Its tough because I do see her as someone I'd want to raise children with and be my partner through out my life, but at the same time there's that important need not being met currently. The thing that would fix the attraction part is a modifiable factor, but I recognize that you can't force anyone to change if they dont want to. She's expressed interest in getting healthier and losing some weight, but her actions haven't mirrored these sentiments yet. If her desire to do so is genuine (which I think it is) I want to help her in that regard but that's a whole different challenge that could warrant it's own video. I worked as a health coach at a medical weight loss clinic but trying to help your partner with this is a whole different ball game 😑 That being said, I'd be more then happy to face those challenges together with her. I just wish there wasn't this unmet need in the interim and the uncomfortable feelings that come from working with someone that my short term evolutionary brain knows would be happy to fill that role, and not being able to talk to my partner about it.

@@JazzEKeez so it seems that the bigger issues are about communication and follow through more than attraction. Building the foundation of open communication takes some dedication and facing some of our own fears which might include rejection or misunderstanding. If that communication is important, I would suggest making it a priority instead of letting frustrations simmer under the surface. Start peeling those layers and see where they go.
