For Brian - A recent college grad visits a farm one day. He approaches the farmer and points to one of the trees. "You know, with the methods you old farmers use, I'd be surprised if you could get one bushel of apples from that tree" says the college grad. "I'd be too" the farmer answers. "That's a peach tree."

I can see a Video of Brian walking through a corn field. In the background off camera Cole whispers "If you build it, he will come." Brian looks around, "If you build it, he will come." Brian looks into the distance and sees the Storla shop in the corn. The new "Wall Drug" of Storla, SD. Future vacation stop.

I wish you all the best, Brian, with the store. While listening to your story of how things used to be in your small town, I had flashbacks to the small towns around where I grew up in southeastern Virginia all of which used to bustle with agricultural activity - hardware and grocery stores, barber shops, feed and seed, even car dealerships. For various reasons, all of that has gone now. I love your channel because even though the crops and methods were/are different, I can relate so much to your experiences, challenges and successes growing up as the son of a farmer. Thanks for sharing.

In my hometown of Douglass, KS, there is a restaurant named The Triangle. Small town diner with Mexican/American food. We still go there all the time, but usually for supper. When my grandpa was alive, I remember him taking me and my cousin into town after morning chores to have breakfast. I remember even more vividly the camaraderie between the farmers and ranchers who did the same, the conversations about last nights storm, commodity markets, the latest politician to piss them all off, etc. It is a memory that solidifies the notion that there is nothing better in this country than small town America. The laughter and friendship, the advice and knowledge, and helping each other whenever it was needed. I am so happy that you get to keep your version of that going with Storla Station. I would bet that a lot of viewers will support the co-op regardless of location. Let us know how and where to go, and we will likely help try to keep the lights on with you. P.S. Cole, the Dakota Tom's egg and sausage croissants look delicious. I recommend keeping those in stock!

It’s actually my favorite part of the videos. Thank you. We all deeply appreciate it. I know that I will never, nor will ever be a farmer. But I think that you way undervalue your input. Hay Festus, when I was a young-in, I worked on a dairy farm. During hay season, they would bale the hay and we would follow the bailer and stack them in threes in the field. After a few dry days we would go out and pick them up on a trailer. Then on to an elevator to take them up in the hay barn. To see you fellers bail hay like this is pure joy, its amazing.

I can relate and appreciate what you're doing with the store. My Great Grandfather opened the Tronnes Hotel in Neilsville, MN back in the early 1900's. Then my Grandfather and Grandmother operated it until the 50's I believe when they built a building adjacent to the hotel and opened the Tronnes Cafe. My father tells me his dad told him to join the military or he'd be stuck working there his whole life so the Cafe ultimately closed. The building is still there and had been owned and operated by several people since as the local tavern. I was fortunate enough to visit it a few years ago with my father and brother and stand proudly where my Grandfather did the day he opened his Cafe. It was a great day for us. I wish you great success with the store as I understand how important they are for small towns. Unrelated but interesting video my father shared with me today about 5 acres of a farmers field that sunk. They called in a slump.. Ever have such an event happen near you or even heard if this natural phenomenon in this video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml7aoKRqecSDask ) ?

Brian you are absolutely adorable and I mean that in the kindest most innocent way! I’d be thrilled to have you as a brother! I’m one of those strange women who was always attracted to men that could make me laugh and smile. That wasn’t just a perk it was always mandatory. Right now my precious husband is not making me laugh at all. We have a 65 yr old Red Oak in the backyard that was starting to shade out our big pines and killed out the grass due to no sun under the canopy. Before he retired last October if there was a big yard project I was concerned about him doing I’d wait till his out of town days and get estimates, pick one and schedule the job when he was gone on a day trip. He might come home to find it done and get his chest all bowed out but his safety is my concern and he has back issues. Since retirement I can’t be sneaky like usual. He wanted those big branches cut to get some shade grass down. I had this sick feeling in my stomach but he swore he’d only cut what the pole saw could reach. A small branch landed across our cable line so Mr know it all tried to hit it with the saw to knock it down. He got it and the cable too!! He turned to step down the ladder, lost his balance and bam! Down he went on his right side and hip. I heard something and went to check. He’s on the ground screaming in pain. He never yells much less screams in pain. Got our nephew who’s an anesthesiologist to check for me if there were any beds open anywhere. He just happened to be in surgery with a dear dear friend who’s an orthopedic surgeon, one of the best and he sent our nephew to help me get hubby in car and then flew ahead to get paperwork started. To make a too long story a little shorter he broke several ribs in right mid back AND broke the greater trochanter completely off. Leg is hanging on by muscle, tendons and ligaments! Hubby said that didn’t sound good! No joke. Got him to ER at 7pm last night, stayed all night with him due to having problems getting meds dialed it. Came to get a shower today and check on puppy dogs. Age 8 and 11. He came out of surgery tonight after 9pm and our Dr got a sitter to stay with him. We’ll buy breakfast and lunch for her tomorrow in addition to her salary for the next 3 days. Got him crackers and a Coke and he was awake before I left. I’ve already told him I’m planning to get him good when he’s well !!! He’s not able to get his Type A personality to to calm down. He told me this may have been his decision making factor this time! So sorry, I didn’t know I obviously really needed to vent to a kind ear and you guys were my refuge in the storm! ~Much love to all the Sonnes from West Texas!!! Keep us in your prayers please! 🙏🏻 Thank you!

I hope that your new venture goes well . It is good to see people picking up the peices and just getting on with it . These big outfits that buy up places and then rape the place and then close down because there is no money in it are awful . It's really rewarding to see guys getting together or on there own out there doing it . As you say these places are so much more than a store , they are the community.

Before y’all know it, the store across that shut the town staple down will be packing bags and on the road. You guys deserve it as do all the other owners and farmers in the area. Small businesses, definitely in small towns, are what’s needed and should be there not these large corporations. Best of luck to you all!

Nice dryland alfalfa and grass hay. Grew up with 2 Farmers Coops in the area, 1 10 miles one direction, other 15 miles other direction. Both had feed mills, farm suppiys. One had cheese factory and milk plant, ran milk can pickup routes, grocery store and clothing store, mechanic and big tire shop. Other had rail freight access for cattle shipping. Never went the the Big City, 25,000 just 25 miles away until I was at least 6 or 8.

Agree, there's nothing wrong with a green tractor, as long as the rims are red. But the black beauty paint scheme is my favorit though xD
