Bagi yang tak faham, ini kisah lesbian yang mengalami konflik dalaman -- antara turutan agama dan seksualiti. Tbh this story is very relatable to a lot of lesbians and gays in Malaysia. Very simple yet heartbreaking. It happened to me as well, so I understand what Hawa feels. :')

“Biasalah, masalah sama yang saya tak boleh ubah…” My tears flowed nonstop at this part. Being born in a conventionally conservative family taught me well enough the rights and wrongs, the lines in my religion that should never be crossed. been taught that it’s a fitrah or norm for a woman to love a man and a man to love a woman. and when i realized i felt different, having a ‘problem that i cant change” it’s like having a concrete wall fell on top of your lungs, making it hard to breathe. knew im more attracted on how god created women than men since i was 10, fell in love with the same gender ever since i was 13, keeping it all in until im finally more accepting, of myself, of the fact that i have so much love in me, of the fitrah i know is just mencintai. mencintai tak pernah salah. cuma setiap langkah yang kena jaga, kena kaji, fikir seratus juta kali. letting go for love is normal. loving is normal. idk what kind of normal is the right one tapi bagi aku mencintai itu sudah cukup normal. dan semoga tuhan masih sayang aku dan cinta aku as much as he did when he first decided to create me with so much delicacy and precision. he knows. he loves. it’s normal.

Didn't expect this kind of short film in Malaysia. Thanks Sharifah for representing us who still suffer from this pain. Dear J, i know u won't read this. You were officially married on June. I was crying in happiness. (Did i? or i wish that i was the one who besides you) I was so happy that you found your soulmate. I know it's hard for the both of us. But letting you go is a good decision of mine. Seeing you smiling so beautifully on your kerusi pengantin with your husband is what i wish for you. I wish he can give you happiness more than i do. Understand you more than i do. Loving you more than i do. Im not giving up on us, but i know how our religion works. Instead of being selfish, this is a better option. I can see in his eyes that he loves you so much. Don't worry about me, im okay im good. Im still looking for my own peace. I wish you all the happiness that this world can give. Thanks for inviting me to your wedding day. Thanks for the last kiss. You will always have a special place in my heart. Sincerely, yours.

This was honestly unexpected. I was not expecting a queer story from Malaysia. I have to admit, I respect the fact they did not demonise Hawa's feelings for Ayu and the portrayal of pining after someone you're already with (but you can't become of society and religion). The internal struggles both of them face, the natural gravitation towards each other due to their feelings is very authentic. Dear Muslims, I have a question. Why is something as fundamental as Love a sin in Islam? If its nature, its innate, why is it wrong? Please don't tell me its in the Quran, I know that, I'd like to know the justification for categorising it as a sin.
@colddishwasher30722 жыл бұрын
i typed 3 paragraphs and the laptop died so short answer. i chose this route, the least i could do is follow the rules that are already set. maybe its respect, maybe its because i believe in Allah. just having so much faith in him even if i dont really know what to do with my sexuality and gender crisis rn. maybe this is love too. in a way. just following what is forbidden for me. it is what it is. because i just believe in Him. maybe there's more qualified people to tell you why but my answer is it is what it is. out of topic but i dont think natural or not is that relevant tbh. i have theories but i dont think im allowed to say those but perhaps its cuz of the sexual aspects of the relationship. i think it violates some rules accordance to other stuff in our religion. i have heard that some people says u can fall in love and stuff but u can't act on that feeling so theres that. thats sad too tbh. cant say more. maybe theres reasons, maybe theres not. but to follow or not is really our own choice. just take this with a grain of salt. im no preacher or orang ilmiah enough but ig this qualifies as a citizen's opinion?
@umin21212 жыл бұрын
i think the only reason why it became a sin is bcs it brings harmful illness like hiv and stuff. usually in Islam, if a thing brings harm to you or people around you, it automatically became a sin. like smoking or drinking alchohol. other than that, idk what's so wrong with being in love with someone your heart always long for.
@shiny24012 жыл бұрын
@@colddishwasher3072 Thanks for your answer. Well, you have explained your choice of faith over feelings, although this doesn't answer my question of why its categorised as a sin. Mind you, I was speaking of love, not lust. It seems bizarre to me that people accept the fact something pure like love is forbidden and no one really seems to question why, despite struggling so much with it. Nevertheless, these are the choices you make, I wish you the best.

@@umin2121 That still doesn't quite make sense. HIV is not exclusive to queer people. Straight couples get HIV or STD too, even married ones,if they were not tested. We're not banning straight people from being together, are we? How different is the feelings between straight and queer people that one needs to be discriminated for their love?
@colddishwasher30722 жыл бұрын
@@shiny2401 im sorry I couldn't give a better answer. It's probably horrible to just hear that people goes "cuz it is" when talking abt pure love as something forbidden. But truly, i don't understand either. I fell in love and somehow, can't act on it without feeling like I'm failing my own self. It's horrible but i am resigned by it atp 💀. I guess even if i fell in love with a girl, the only thing that matters is that i still worship Allah. I'll be a horrible Muslim but a Muslim regardless. Thanks for ur understanding too ❤️

At first, I thought that this story was about friendship betrayal. Turns out this is a great representative of our closeted rainbows. This is my perspective; a super long one. 0:40 The story starts with Hawa staring at her empty bed & embracing the pillow, like someone that she's missing. 1:39 Now flashing back to the past. Ayu is struggling with her mental health and Hawa tries to comfort her. 1:52 How gentle she is with her. 2:11 Deep down Ayu still struggling with her decision. She's crying. 3:08 Hawa tried to convince Ayu, despite how broken she is. 3:42 seems uninterested, but later 4:32 she's kinda interested in him because he was Hawa's past lover (?) Idk, Ayu kinda annoying here imo. lol. 5:20 auch. 5:55 cover up the pain. 6:13 "He makes you happy kan?" Hawa prioritizes Ayu's happiness. If you really love someone, you want them to be happy even without you. 6:15 "he makes me normal" this is referring to sexuality context ya peeps. With the azan background, the heartbreak is obviously deep & relatable, especially for the Muslim LGBT community that struggling between religion & love. How Ayu doesn't reply to her question about happiness also shows that she is obviously struggling with herself too. Inner battles ain't something that your partner can help. Hawa knows that Ayu found something that she can't ever give to her. And it breaks Hawa, deeply. 6:35 She was smiling before, never once did she cry in front of her. All the heartbreak and silent tears only during prayers. 7:11 They already separated bed, that's why Hawa is uncomfortable sharing bed & even put the pillow in between. If they're just normal friends, this scene will be unnecessary. 7:45 Out of habit, their sleeping position became closer like lovers. Even when the alarm clock rang, she came back to snuggle Ayu. 8:10 She remembers their boundaries, that's why she was startled. 8:13 She stares at her face lovingly. Staring at her lips means intimacy-- like you want to kiss someone you love, but you can't. She doesn't let her desire wins, so she gets out the bed quickly. 8:30 I just assume that Isma (Azma Aizal) is her gay friend that knows her real sexuality & past relationship. See how comfortable she expressed her real frustration bout Ayu's relationship. Isma might blame Ayu for choosing Adam. But Hawa defended Ayu & accused Adam as the one who made the move to pursue Ayu. 9:12 "aku nak kahwin dengan dia sebab aku boleh. Kau boleh?" Well, this scene is quite harsh & annoying tbh. I hate how he smirked at her. I guess Adam knew about Hawa's sexuality & try to prove his (fragile) masculinity by marrying Ayu. Sounds like some sort of winning for him. Which kinda petty. 9:22 So relatable. 9:55 "macam anak mama pulak yang kahwin" "Ayu tu dah macam anak mama tau" Relatable too. Moms tend to love your best friend (partner) like their own, though they didn't know your relationship. Kinda hurts tho, like you already found a partner (menantu) that your mom loves; but can't be together. 10:18 Her mom might already know her sexuality, which is a huge relief for a child. At least someone acknowledges her sadness. 10:27 "You are doing the right thing". It is a sacrifice. Religion over love. Many of us actually sacrifice our love for religious reasons, and it is hard. It hurts. So deep. It is a struggle that we never talk about. 10:36 The breakup, this forbidden & unrequited love is expected from the very beginning but of course, it doesn't hurt any less 11:07 Look how Hawa's sighing (breaking inside) but then smiling at Ayu. 11:16 that background music 'ku tatap syurgaku'. In Islam, once married the women's heaven is under her husband's feet (under his redha). That doesn't mean that Ayu loves him (yet), but more towards responsibilities and making the right decisions. This song is very relatable. Nastia Band - Pastel. 11:36 ... Pinta saja kemana kau mahu Pasti kau akan aku bawa Wherever you asked me to be. I'll be there, even as your bridesmaid (+ex). lol. 11:52 At first I thought this is Hawa's mother. She's kinda rushing to let go, seems like your mom's reaction towards your ex? lol. Like 'I wish you happy, but you still broke my daughter's heart' kinda reaction. haha. But turns out she is actually Ayu's mother. Ayu seems uncomfortable and wants her mom. Maybe her mom is the one that forces the marriage or dislikes her daughter's sexuality. Idk, I wish we have a full perspective on Ayu's story too. 12:00 Hawa is the one that holds her and becomes her strength at that moment. Jangan kau tunduk Biar zahirmu bisu Lumrah dunia Kita sama saja 12:26 Jangan menangis andai ku pergi Berpautlah dengan pesan ibu 12:44 When she's alone, her true self broke down. She sat on the guy's seat, how she wished she was the one. 12:49 Come back to the present time as at the starting of this story. She's hugging the pillow, like someone that she's missing so dearly, now we know who. Now we know whose scent that lingers in Hawa's life. 12:57 The azan for prayer time. She came back to reality, wiping her tears. Slowly dragging herself outta bed for wudhu. She took a second to breathe and get up. It is tiring. Symbolise that she was sad, but she drags herself out of the memories & goes for prayer. She turned to her Eternal Love. That's what moving on seems like. You still missing them, reminiscing them, but all you can do is cry & pray. Until one day, it doesn't hurt anymore. So to those who didn't understand, this isn't a story about best friends stealing each other's boyfriends. It's about the Muslim LGBT story. Yes, Ayu and Hawa were partners and maybe still in love with each other. If you see the way they're so gentle to each other and still using pet names (B, sayang), the way they hold hands; they're obviously more than friends. Complicated relationship. They might already break up because of religion, and even separate beds. It's like divorce but still being friends with each other. Some people might question why still living together if you already broke up kan. Babe, not all people broke up because their ex is a bad person. Sometimes it is a mutual decision, especially in LGBT relationships, religion is one of the valid reasons. This story is heavily biased on Hawa's side, which is understandable because she's the main character & the main focus is on religion. However, Ayu's perspective is also important. She's struggling with her inner battles-- maybe denying her sexuality because of religion and fighting for her family's acceptance. Though it kinda hurts to see her choosing the guy, we do not know her struggles to accept herself and leave her true love. She was reluctant, but she still proceed with the marriage. Love isn't easy and sometimes it is not enough. Though it is sincere and beautiful, somehow we stop growing spiritually because it is opposing our religion. Kinda sad but true, so many of us have to sacrifice our love to pursue something deem as normal. Sacrifice to get deemed as acceptable in our religion. Because the truth is life is a long journey, and religion is far more important than our worldly desire. Sometimes you have to be brave and love more to let go; just like Hawa. Well, maybe not as a bridesmaid, but yeah, love made you do dumb things that gonna hurt you later on. From my experience and others closeted fellas, no you shouldn't be your ex's bridesmaid. It's better to break up and never talk to each other for a while. You can always reconcile years from now, but don't leave yourself with some heartbreaking memories. Unless you have a huge heart like Hawa or is simply a masochist. lol. Overall, this is a superb short film. 2013 heh, quite sad to admit how LGBT issue rarely discussed in our country. Especially this kind of honourable sacrifice. If this story came out earlier, I might be able to avoid the same kind of heartbreak. lol. Nevertheless, thank you for this amazing art.

When u had to let someone you love go either you sincere or not, the painful is still the same. It left a scars forever. The memories will be remained and will always hunting you. but the moment you feel lost or lonely, always remember, GOD will always be there for you. Find Him and put all hopes & trust towards Him, He will guide you and show you His mercy
