Hawaii - Checking out Our Land

We finally got to take a look at the land we've purchased on the Big Island of Hawaii. We've got 20 acres in the Mountain View area on the Hilo side of the island. It's all going to be off grid and I'm super excited to get back over there and start working on it!

Hate to first burst your bubble but that area has a high crime rate! I know I live about 10 miles from there.

I'm exited for you. Whatever cleared vegetation you accumulate can be turned into compost : ) Nothing goes to waste and can later be used in organic garden.

My wife and I love the big island and hope to move there some day. For the negative comments, there are always people wanting to piss on your dreams. Ignore them. Hang in there and Good luck. 👍🏼

Hmmm... I had been thinking about getting a 7 acre parcel; but after seeing your video I thought maybe 2 acres is enough. Looks like one big pruning job. Please do show us what you did with the jungle!

Mountain view is creepy at night, all the weirdos come out of the jungle and prowl! Same with Volcano and all the way down into Puna!

try to keep all the ohia and uluhe.. if you remove them all the invasive species will come in and take over... endemic plants are very easy to keep in check... the orchids are called bamboo orchids they are an invasive species and were air seeded as cattle fodder 95 yrs ago in lower Puna... fwiw your land is as good as it gets invasive species wise.. yours is close to 90% endemic, unlike many upper Puna lots... aloha

+MarbRed Fred Dont rush and buy land, come first spend couple months before you buy. It might be one of the most expensive thing you ever get. Take your time.
