I always appreciate how you tie in narrative with the game mechanics, often keeping things thematic when there is no theme! This is a great game that I probably would not have noticed without your playthrough. EDIT: Having played this more since I originally posted I really do adore this game. The shrinking resources whilst engine building is so much fun while making a lot of thematic sense.

I know Tom hates this game, which is why l watched your runthrough first. I like it, and l now have a thorough understanding of how Hawaii is played. My girls aren't ready for this one yet, but they're not too far away. I'll keep it on my Pinterest game wish list board to remind me to pick this one up later. :) Thanks, Richard.

I've never heard the word "chit" for the little cardboard pieces/tokens. That's pretty interesting. I thought you were saying something else at first haha. Thanks for this runthrough, definitely getting this game!!!

I've heard that this game is broken. 2 strategies are totally overpowered. No chance to beat these strategies. If you combine these 2 strategies, you can easily have 200 points more than the 2nd best player. Just focusing on the Spears-Strategy and playing only 1 village can give you a ridicilous amount of points.

Terra NigmaIf you combine these 2 strategies and at the same time ignoring most other options in the game, you can easily have 200 points more than the 2nd best player, who is playing the game the way it was meant to be played.* I hope this helps. Sorry for my poor english.

powerfade11 oh, it's just that we're constantly having to play new games for me to do runthroughs, so we don't often get to go back and get our old favourites to the table. we probably haven't played hawaii in over a year, as sad as that is (considering how much we love the game), and every time we do play get a chance to play it, we just don't add the expansion, because it's been so long. if we were "normal gamers" and weren't learning 3 new games every week, I suspect hawaii would see a lot more table time, and we would have definitely tried the mini expansion by now! :)
