Yep been disappointment so far with his visit to Hawaii, he's been to places that aren't so great, and there so many better spot on the island that serve better food. Also there is another bbq place that serves Texas style bbq and so much better then that place.

I dig how Lucas focuses on describing the food and not saying, "Wow! This is amazing." like every other foodie. Even if it is or isn't. He kind of paints a picture of the food and it slightly makes me feel like I can taste it from home. I think a lot of people are misunderstanding his descriptions as if he doesn't like it at all. Has anyone tried explaining a food they've eaten without repeating words over and over. So he takes a second to put together his sentences in order to give us a show that we enjoy watching and isn't repetitive over the past whatever amount of seasons.

It's a doomed task trying to describe food, hence most food shows mainly covering the history, story, location - and then just saying "the food is great" I love Lucas for actually managing to (or at least taking a running jump at doing so) describe it, and then add his personal thoughts.

He's already had authentic Hawaiian food and then had to downgrade (must be so sad). Pretty awful looking BBQ all around. Brisket wasn't even slightly trimmed. The pulled pork was basically mush. Beans look like they came out of a can.

So I'm raised and still live in Kahuku I can look out of my window and literally see this place from my house... this entire time I never knew people could go up this hill I should check it out sometime. Also 0:45 seconds the map is marked as "Kahuku" but the location of the red star is far off. The star looks like its in the Waimea area hahaha Kahuku is literally the very tip northern tip.

Honestly, the food didn’t look all that impressive. The brisket wasn’t even trimmed and there was not much of a smoke ring on anything. Lucas didn’t seem too blown away either. Looked like he was doing his best to be diplomatic about it.
