This brought back so many special memories for me. Many years ago, I traveled on on 8 day island pass. I flew 100 flights between the islands over the 8 days. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life! Thanks for allowing me to relive the memories!

My parents lives 3 minutes from the Opaekaa falls(10:08) and our old hometown in Hanamaulu was a 10 minute drive to the Wailua falls (10:32)

Nice video! This brings back fond memories. I've been on 12 Hawaiian Airlines flights (and two Island Air flights) in the last three years. A mixture of A-330s (from New York) and B-717s. HA service is great! (My Hawaiian video clips are on KZbin as well).

robertk2007 my dad took me there in march for my birthday, it was a once in a lifetime trip. Honolulu was truly amazing. We were only there for the weekend, but it was the best weekend I've EVER had. I'm not really emotionall, and I've never cried from leaving a trip, but I cried on the redeye flight home. 😩😓

An awesome takeoff video! That looked like some military aircraft in the background at around 3:35 or so. Anyway, was this in the summertime by chance? I only asked because I saw the cumulus clouds from the window inside the airport terminal. Nice job once again! Looks like this was a short flight!

The 717 was designed for TWA by McDonnell Douglas engineers . Similar cockpit to the mercury space capsule, but unfortunately no else placed orders for the new jet and McDonnell Douglas cancelled the program rather than giving the planes away for free like airbus does, including free uniforms and training .

ValuJet (later AirTran) also ordered 717s, before it became the 717. Those examples are now flown by Delta.

Quantas has some. Reason the program was cancelled was the merger with Boeing. Boeing only pushed 737s even though many customers wanted the 717. Many bought Airbus because of that. Worked at MDC from 1985 to 2002.

"That smoke you can see is fine oil mist. On modern turbofans, the main bearings are sealed by a non contact seal known as a labyrinth seal or knife edge seal. These seals have "fingers" that form a narrow passage with the rotating shaft. Air is bled from the compressor section and blown across this seal into the bearing cavity, thus, any oil that tries to leave the bearing cavity faces an opposing "wall" of pressurized air. After oil has passed through and lubricated the bearing, it ends up mixing with this sealing air. This air / oil mixture is then scavenged back to the oil tank. Before it gets to the tank, the mixture is passed through an air / oil separator. This uses centrifugal forces to de-aerate the air / oil mix, and return liquid oil to the oil tank. The separated air is then ejected overboard from the engine. Obviously, not all the oil can be removed in the centrifugal separator. TheElyras yes hawaii airlines has all boeing air crafts they have the 717 747 747-200 767 767-200 air bus 320 and they also have two engine prop.planes called Ohana air.(ohana means family)
