Hi everyone,
Here's is Jig's version of Hawaiian Oxtail Soup. he was inspired when we ate at Aiea Bowl in Hawaiian. Hope you enjoy this recipe.

Hi Jeannie, did you add unsoaked, shiitake mushrooms straight into the broth? Also, did you add any citrus peel, like orange, lemon, tangerine? Lastly, is there a reason you use dates instead of raw peanuts? Is it a different taste or is it what you had on hand love the mother sauce thank you for sharing. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Hello! No apologies needed. So this is what my hubby said: I put the dried shitake mushrooms directly to the broth. I didn't have dried lemon peel but i put it in the oven for super low heat to dry. The dried dates gives a sweet flavor but as far as the peanut goes, i didn't tastes much of a flavor but it gives a little crunch when u eat them but I don't think it's necessary. I put fresh lemon peel and put it in the over to let it dry I hope this helps. Happy cooking! Let us know how it turns out ❤️

@@JamieLeeStyle yes it gives me a picture of how flexible the recipe can be. I sort of would like to use the dry dates as my primary nut. Like I mentioned, I have seen chefs use dates as either a mean or paired with peanuts, but since your husband said peanuts, don’t add flavor except for a crunch, I may eliminate it. I just don’t want it to be compared to a Filipino dish called KAREKARE or a Thai dish called Mussanan curry as they are both peanut forward. I’m wondering what the big difference is between orange peel and lemon peel. I will use orange juice and peel when I make cumin dishes Cubans like to marinate the pork in a mixture of orange, lime and lemon. I can’t wait to use the mother sauce or mama sauce. I never thought to make a sauce to dip beef from a soup broth. Keep making more videos.
