I've got a bunch of moray videos and I have one where a spotted moray opens so wide like it is yawning and you can see the pharyngeal jaw slide forward in the lower jaw. So cool.

1984 My wife and I were in Maui at Kaanapali beach. She was on her air mattress and I was snorkeling out a 100 feet or so from the beach. The water was just over my head a couple feet and when I turned around I saw a Moray eel that had 3 wavy ripples going. He got within 4 feet of me and he stopped and his tail was touching the bottom and he cocked his head backward and just opened his mouth with teeth and stayed that way until I surfaced and yelled at my wife and tried to pull myself up on her air mattress, but she wasn't having that so I just backed off and after I was a good distance away he went on his way. I thought I was toast, but now I know it was probably a white mouthed eel. I'm glad for the experience though!
