Love seeing this kind of malia day and such beautiful weather. When the weather gets like this, usually winter time and the atmosphere is this clear it's amazing! Yeah, growing up on Oahu, and Kauai in the 60's and 70's I loved kumu, of course, and there used to be lots, and in the winter starting in December, the big kumu come in from the deep water every year! That's when I would get 5+ pound ones that start turnimg purple! Moana kali are really good to!! When I moved to the big island in the mid to late 70's, I noticed way more kali's, and lot's of munu, but kumu were in certain areas and monsters too, but not as much. Over decades living on big island, I just loved it! I commercial fished on my custom built Force 30 for 30+ years, and I love how scenic that area you were diving is!! So lush and green and waterfalls and streams, so fresh water runoff makes the surface water not as clear a lot, and all the green on the boulders on the bottom is partly from so much fresh water!! The scenic drives along that side are just killah's!!! Scopalamine for seasickness, take before you feel sick!! I'd start with 1/2 patch , and it will give you a dry mouth and you will feel a little side affects. The more you go out on boats, you should get better over time. Great to see you enjoying diving. Just be safe. No shallow water blackout, especially alone We lost Gene Higa, likely to it years ago, and he was a world class champion freedive spearfiherman who competed with my friend Wendell Ko, who's a legend and awesome bruddah!! Aloha D.L

There are pros and cons to gutting fish in the water and out of the water. When ya do it out of the water really the only cons are how nasty it can be.. when ya hit them in the water it can chum the water which depending on where you’re diving can make the fish more lively and the sharks but you seem to not have any issues with gutting in the water over in Hawai’i compared to someplace like Florida/Bahamas where gutting in the water would render your dive spot useless cause of all the sharks and you’d have to find a new spot😅
@hawaiihammahs Жыл бұрын
Hou dam! So you guys don’t use chum out there?
