Best 20 minutes I've seen on KZbin in a long time. Fascinating to see how he was unfazed by the commotion all around him. Talk about an animals ability to adapt to city life. Great footage. Thanks for telling people to back off and give him space too.

The Red tail hawks comeback in the new york area has been tremendous. but not just NY, all of the eastern seaboard. In Florida they grow much MUCH bigger!. They eat about 4 rats daily. small mammals including other birds , such as pigeons, which is why their return to NY in the 80's was so successful. They had more than an abundant of food.

I wouldn't say he's not bothered, just extremely hungry. The dumbasses surrounding him just staring like idiots seems to be irritating him as much as they are me. He keeps purposely looking directly at each one (in the eye) to signal for them to f*ck off but they aren't respecting that...

He probably lives in central park. I live in the city and hawks come a lot to try and jack my chickens. Then they fly away to the quiet parks and live in the trees. They aren't so much used to people as much as the just don't care. They don't usually jack a live animal if a person is around but they have no problem eating in front of people once they got their meal.

Owner of car: Make that two please...? Boss: Why?! Owner of car: Because I really don't want to rush the hawk's meal and can't disturb nature like that. I don't want my eyes gauged out by the hawk... Boss: You have 1 hour and 50 minutes now! Owner of car: Please sir! You don't get this much nature action in the city all the time. Boss: Fine...! That kid has never been taught how to respect an animal. You can see the difference in the children walking by with parents that teach their kids early on how to behave around animals. This kid was not in awe of the magnificent bird of prey just a few feet away. He was more into the blood and gore and perhaps the suffering of the victim of the carnage. I knew that without knowing the language. I could see it in his behavior. Both had a clear lack of respect for the raptors space. Sudden movements, loud voices. They could give a shit less about anything. Little does he know, nor will he ever be taught that the rat was killed swiftly and humanely and not made to suffer needlessly before it became the raptors meal. So, this wide eye wonder will never respect nature, nor care to learn about any other sentient beings that can cross our paths in the future.

Where I live, it's difficult to even get near these things since people are sparse and the raptors are less tolerant of humans. But I did see an eagle eating a mouse or vole in a crop field while going home. And you'll always see eagles at the river. But it's like _illeagle_ to go near them to avoid disrupting their nesting.
