Personally I think Miguel should've called Johnny out on his selfishness in the medical room. I mean Johnny was willing to risk Miguel's long term health and practically his friendship with his best friend (Hawk) mainly so he could rub a trophy in Daniel's face. If taking Cobra Kai down was Johnny's top priority, then he wouldn't have had a problem with Miyagi-Do winning (before Daniel came to him for help) since none of their students pulled a muscle and Eagle Fang wouldn't have to shut down if Miyagi-Do won. Johnny was putting his personal drama onto Miguel.

One match is one thing, but Miguel would've had to fight 2 matches with an injured back if he had chosen to continue. Hawk switched sides during the housefight, and came up with the idea of building the sparring deck to keep the dojo alliance intact, of course he changed, yet Johnny wanted Miguel to beat him up just because he joined Daniel's dojo. Robby did way worse and was fighting on Kreese's team, and I highly doubt Johnny would've told Miguel to take Robby's butt out during the tournament. Johnny was putting his drama on Miguel (again). Eagle Fang wasn't the only dojo competing to stop Cobra Kai, their was also Miyagi-Do. If Stopping Cobra Kai was Johnny's top priority, then he wouldn't have had any problem with Miyagi-Do winning before Miguel chose to quit, but he was more concerned with rubbing a trophy in Daniel's face. Their would've been an argument between Johnny and Daniel regardless, because Johnny was getting jealous of Miguel and Daniel bonding and he was about to show it in front of the students before Kreese and Silver showed up.

Miguel immediately calling for johnny the moment he believes he's re-injured his back is so heartbreaking. While Miyagi-Do was loading up on talent in Hawk, Sam, Demetri and others and Cobra Kai was a powerhouse with Robby, Tory, Kenny, Piper and Kyler, Miguel never strayed from Johnny regardless of friendship, relationship or nicer dojo. my guess is that the skill competition nets fewer point than the actual fights, and would possibly serve as a way to ti the scales if the male and female champions are from different dojos. EF is the only dojo that had decently ranked fighters outside of myagi do and cobra kai, so it gets to 3rd place easily

In fact, the most important and funny fact is that this move from Miguel would not have hit Hawk - at 03:01 you can see that Eli reacted to Diaz's leg, so this blow would not have hit him. LoL. In this fight as a whole, one can notice a very high level of Hawk's defense (taking into account the fact that he is the most experienced student of Cobra Kai), so once again we can conclude why he is the champion of Miyagi Do and why he is the fastest (faster than Kenny himself).
