Those who are working there, or who will go there after watching this, what would be best is to pay it forward. if your meal cost $2.50, give them $5 to keep the change. that helps them sustain this stall and u still can able to get a $5 lunch which is still not so bad ah. I'm from KL and just saw this. I am deeply moved by your kindness and generosity. Your family is so sincere and thoughtful in helping the needy. The landlord should give you a better priced rental and the Government should step in and subsidise your costs as you're actually helping your neighbourhood. They used to do it at a hawker centre near my place - was subsequently scrapped as a lot of the older folks stopped coming as they didnt feel comfortable taking a free meal. Feel that the best way is for gov to provide the relevant subsidies on rent, utilities, food cost rebate etc.

The family really ought to start a donation fund, and people all over the world can donate to the fund to help the poor and needy folks. Maybe the family can also apply grants from the government for more support. Hired workers cost money, but volunteers are free. Volunteers can help run the shop so that the owners can just sit back and watch and maybe tell people what to do like a real boss.
