Sadly overlaps do matter in a way. The amount of chunks spawned is directly tied to the overlap. So a x3 gives you 3x the chunks per success. I just did multiple runs as a test at various ltdx1. Although i do find the sub surface deposits decently enough it's the per success that matters the most. So I guess it's still tied to overlaps except for the core asteriods.

Its important to detonate the missile in the bars with two lines or one line. Ive noticed that if i detonate in the larger bars i get only 2-3 chunks. However bars with two or lower yield 8+.

The amount per drop will likely be lowered. I tried tritium flipping using a carrier. I bought 10k worth at 2k ea and sold that 10k for 85k ea. It was a nice profit but nothing as fast as this sub surface minng.

I think they already nerfed it or im too unlucky due i spent 1.5 hours and only could mine 170 ltd which is pretty much same as laser mining!! It still gives tons of chunks but the problem is even in 3x overlapping ltd it is too hard to find ltd subsurfaces. I spent one hour and couldn't find anything good only one x2 then in the last 30 minutes i found 2 x3 that one of them alone gave 60 ltd!! So if you find a lot of x3 you can really farm 500 million a hour but it is extremely unlikely, i think it doesn't worth the effort compared to extremely easy laser mining...

Not sure if it has been mentioned, Hawkes has altered colors on his HUD. If you have a stock orange hud the areas on the drill display will be light blue. One other note, the triple LTD area has been nerfed in Borann. It no longer exists once they rerolled everything for Tritium. Pre-Carrier I spent a LOT of time out here doing the "mapped laser ltd mining" where someone spent the time to shoot a bunch of prospectors, find the juiciest rock, take a picture of where it is. You fly to that rock which is most likely 25% - %30 or better, strip it, orient yourself where the next picture shows and fly to the next indicated rock. If you were good at lining up the pictures, you could fill a cutter in a around an hour. This was also when dumping a cutter's worth of LTD's did not crash the price. I believe those days are gone.

Thanks Hawkes! Litteraly, i love this game, and recommended it to 5 of my freinds. They all bought it, but couldnt find out how to get anywhere with credits ( all they knew how to do was courier missions ). I sent them the 2019 beginners guide, and they got back into the game. With the new update / patch which changed how the ltds work, we all couldnt get anymore credits. I send them this, and now we are all online in our Condas, Corvettes and Cutters. I cant thankyou enough for helping me and my freinds through this game. These videos are amazing, and the content is awesome. Thanks man!

@@Maurilustrador scout hunting for me has two benefits.1, every scout is considered elite combat rank so if you are trying to farm combat rank they are a big help. 2, it's a lot of fun. it was kind tedious when there was only one type, but regenerators, beserkers etc make it more challenging and fun. but yes, type of scout should affect bounty price, 10000 for a marauder maybe, but regenerators/berserkers/inciters should pay more.

PSA: THIS METHOD HAS BEEN NERFED SIGNIFICANTLY. Around 4 days after Hawkes released this, the following was stated in the patch notes released June 17th: “Mining Reduced the largest possible yield when subsurface mining for Low Temperature Diamonds by around 25%. Decreased the effectiveness of the peripheries of Low Temperature Diamond hotspots. Overlapping hotspots for Low Temperature Diamonds, when coupled with the new Subsurface Mining changes, were more effective than the centre of the hotspot itself. This change increases the drop-off of the hotspot’s ring, reducing the likelihood that a double-overlapped hotspot is more lucrative than either of the hotspot’s centrepoints. A well-placed triple hotspot will still be very effective at increasing the likelihood of finding Low Temperature Diamonds. This change does not affect any other hotspots or minerals.” TLDR; Drop into the center of hotspots rather than seeking overlapping ones. If the centers of 2+ hotspots overlap significantly enough, number of core asteroid encounters WILL be higher. Disclaimer; no matter the amount of asteroids with the subsurface mining option available to you, you WILL receive 25% reduced yield compared to Hawkes’ results. This method IS still highly effective, but only when positioned perfectly, and with a little (A LOT.) of help from RNJesus.

The question remains, is core or sub-surface mining the current meta? I seem to only get 2-3 chunks per attempt with SSM which at the end, is about the same as a core mining where I get around 15-18 for the asteroid. I might get more SSM chunks per rock but, takes longer to do. With 2 heavy missiles into low fissures, you get a perfect yield everytime. Are they balanced now? Neither better?

I just mined in an LTD1 hotspot, and I the frequency of sub-surface deposits there was definitely lower than in the Col 285 LTD3 hotspot. It took me about 15 minutes to find a single deposit on average, whereas in the LTD3, it never took more than 5 minutes to find a rock with multiple.

There are 2 sub-surface launchers. the 1B and 2B. They are EXACTLY the same in performance. Only difference is: 2B has more ammo capacity (96 rounds instead of 32) and demands a bit more power.

I have been mining in a single spot and in 2 swapping spots. I think that the number of ring spots actually counts, because in the single one, it was really hard to find asteroids with LTD drilling spots; but it was easier in the two swapping spots.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 400 mil an hour has a few condition that you need to meet before hand : 1 - as you said you need to be good at the minigame 2 - triple hot-spot is essencial 3 - you have to wait for the market blessing ( 1.7 mil per t. ) 4 - last but not least you need to own a fleet carrier or your earning will drop dramaticly ( travel time )

Had to spend about two hours just trying to figure out how to change huds so I can scan, (had to look it up on a diff vid. Its controls-mode switches- at the very bottom its switch cockpit mode. Mine wasn't bound to anything) then I had to spend another 30 min to know how to scan a ring to see if it even had ltd (again... from a diff vid). Even after that, I could not understand how an asteroid with 15% ltd would not give me ltd until I realized that the subsurface deposit needed to be ltd. How long did it take you to find a system with asteroids with ltd as a subsurface deposit? Are there specific rings that have them more commonly? I have no idea, Ice, rock, metallic? I love your content, and all your guides are spot on when I have the hindsite to know what your talking about, but being new to the changed mining mechanics, ... I started at 11pm and its now 7:37am and have yet to get one ltd. Just a suggestion, that you go through your guides slower and more thoroughly. Even after several hundred hours in nms, I still find your guides a bit tough to follow and have to pause every few seconds to make sure I didn't miss anything. I dunno, maybe its just me or maybe its because you spent thousands of hours in these games and everything is kinda repetitive for you, not sure.

the smaller the line the more chunks you get. i ALWAYS aim for single bars first and then hit the 2's. i once had an asteroid with 38% LTD content with 5 LTD sub surface deposits. that one asteroid gave me around 200t of LTD

@@sonicwingnut there are two differences from my other build. Sense I now have a fleet carrier I no longer need a fuel scoop. I also have 3 x 64 cargo racks on my subsurface build. I took out one 5a collector and replaced with it a cargo rack and added a 3a collector in place of the fuel scoop. Giving me 64 more cargo space with only 1 less limpet coming in at 8 total.

Man, just last night I found a Deepcore LTD Asteroid that had 5 Subsurface LTD deposits too. I think it alone was worth almost 200,000,000. Note: This was NOT in any overlap area, I don't like to use meta spots. I fly out and find my own far away from other people. It's just how I like to play.

Overlap maxes out odds of any deep core being the desired ore to 100%. It does help. Unless they changed it. You don't need beyond 3x for deep core. Past 3x is good for normal laser mining techniques.

This game could be so much more fun. But who cares about that. Why develop in mass when a minimalist approach can't grind a players brain to dust. It's more fun for the British to laugh about their superiority while showing as little sign of it as humanly possible. It's their national past time.

hot spot, overlaps, or even no hot spot at all doesn't matter. What matters is finding a rock with 2 or more sub surface deposits and your skill at hitting them. LTD's give the most for repeated success but any product that comes as a sub surface deposit can be farmed in this way. Painite, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Osmium, Bromelite, even Tritium and so on. I've gotten up to 25T from a single LTD sub surface deposit. You can do it on a rock with only a single deposit. It just takes a bit longer and that many more relogs. ANY product you can expect to average about 1 ton of product per extraction success. With the more you succeed at hitting that product resulting in the more product you get per extraction. Get about 500 Ly's outside the bubble and there are no NPC Pirates to pester you.

Tips are welcome. I've literally spent a whole hour before getting maybe 40-50 tons of diamonds and you're raking in 150+. Sometimes I've gotten zero at a hotspot Not sure where I'm going wrong, but i was at a single and not a double or triple hotspot so maybe that's my mistake. (Btw I like using a python too, didn't know you could equip more than one collector limpet so I'll have to do that as well)
