In case you are wondering what happens when the whistle of a pressure cooker is defective, you need to replace the whistle as soon as possible write the rated brand and make for your model of pressure cooker. Otherwise overweight whistle could cause more steam to be built up in the cooker than the rated pressure and it could blow the safety valve or even burst like a bomb.
Lower weight of the whistle could cause frequent blow off of steam before achieving the rated pressure, hence resulting in slower and inefficient cooking.
