I wouldn't even say that Hawks was ruthless. Ruthless would've been him killing Twice without a second thought, without giving him the chance to start over, or even talk. Hawks talked to him. He gave him a chance. And at countless times during their fight, he had the opportunity to kill him, but he didn't, because he did care about him. That's the whole reason why Hawks failed as badly as he did. He stuck around to fight with Twice, and that allowed Dabi to arrive and decimate him. If he was truly ruthless, Dabi would've arrived to a dead body. But Hawks couldn't bring himself to coldly murder Twice.

Most heroes aren't like that. Hawks was raised to basically be an assassin for the government under the guise of a hero. I would hesitate to call him a true hero just like how I would hesitate to call the pros in the Liberation Army true heroes. Heroes in Japan aren't allowed to kill people, so Hawks shouldn't actually be considered a hero.

Yeah. I get why Hawks did what he did, but it doesn't make him right since Jin may have been dangerous due to his Quirk, but he's still very human like other villains, and Hawks showed some of the darker side and some of the hypocrisy of heroes in the MHA universe.

Hawks is such a cool charachter so glad he didn’t turn out to be evil. That tends to happen with the cool guys, and damn he really pulled his weight for this raid. I love how seriously he took Twice as a threat, heroes should only kill if there’s no other option on the table and in this case their was’nt. If Twice entered the battle they were all screwed, the decision wasn’t made lightly.

Everyone is feeling bad for Twice, but we should also feel bad for Hawks too. It’s not like he wanted to do this, it’s part of his job. He doesn’t wanna harm Twice, but has no choice too. If he lets him go, Twice would make the war 100x more harder. It’s annoying that everyone is treating Hawks as if he is the bad guy when he’s not. He does care about Twice and really wants to help him. However, they are both stuck in this predicament. It’s much sadder what happens next in the manga, I don’t think I’m prepared

The hero's job being to tear people down who are actively oppressed is the problem. The job isn't actual justification and it isn't noble. The system they're a part of causes the villains to exist in the first place.

The main point of the anime is to explore the dichotomy of heroes and villains. There are multiple villains with noble intentions or goals, maybe we can even relate to them. On the flipside of that, there are heroes which are dastardly and callous. This is one of those situation where the line between hero and villain is blurry or maybe irrelevant. The sides could've been swapped and the situation would likely play out the same. Hell, in a way, I can almost picture twice and hawks being in the opposite position, with hawks being betrayed.

This scene was honestly such a breath of fresh air, because the hero wasn't like "Oh no! I can't kill him!" Much like real life, sometime heros need to be cold blooded and kill their enemies. Like the SAS in the 70s or 80s in the embassy seige. I love seeing villains being redeemed, but I also love to see heros having the resolve to shed blood.

These comments are kind of annoying, people on here acting like Hawks was wrong for what he did or that Twice didn't have a real choice. I get that Twice is a great character and a sympathetic figure, but stop acting like he was in any way justified for doing what he did. His loyalty is admirable, and again he's a nice guy, but he absolutely made the wrong choice here. Hawks could have helped him, he chose not to take it and suffered the consequences for that. That's on him, Hawks did the right thing, no if, ands or buts about it.

Thank you for sharing that. Just yesterday, I got into some really bad s**t with some angry hater for defending Hawks. He wanted Hawks to die for killing Twice, and he said some s**t to me about how the LOV are mistreated and had bad pasts because of how society treated them. But as I said, that was no excuse for the crimes they were committing. What Hawks did was literally one of the hardest choices to make, and if he really was cold-blooded as they keep saying he is, he would've killed Twice without second thought and Dabi would've shown up to Twice's dead body, and he most likely would've been next.

Will never understand why people are so upset with Hawks for making the call to end Twice. I get it, Twice is a character that is easy to emphasize with and its okay to emphasize with people who suffered alot and chose evil. What's not okay is letting villains like Twice be justified in their actions just because he was misguided and had a painful life. Having an awful and unfair life doesn't justify harming innocent lives. In the end of the day, you have a choice and Twice chose to side with the villains. Hawks had no choice to end Twice considering Twice getting involved in the actual battlefield would have costed way more lives.

Twice was part of an organisation that fought for liberty, while Hawk was part of an organisation whose function was to maintain a tyrannical government, and crush dissend. It was very hard to see all of these good rebels (Redestro) being destroyed, only to be replaced by someone who actually is evil (All for one)

@@patricktorres1292 The sub has it's moments. Not a lot in my opinion but season 4 I liked the when Midoriya used OFA at 100% in sub. Then there's the school festival, I liked the concert in sub more. I also think I preferred Endeavor's fight with the high end Nomu in sub (even though I mostly prefer dub Endeavor). I think season 4 had some of the weakest dub moments but I think COVID was partly to blame for it. Though, I should make clear that Kirishima and Amajiki have way better dub moments, especially in season 4.

Agreed to disagree. He shouldn't have died regardless. He's the only one of them that actually could have been rehabilitated and made something of his life. A hero's job is to eliminate all threats and yes that sometimes means killing. But it also means saving everyone that you can including villains.

Twice was the only villain I felt bad for. He still chose the wrong side, and, as Hawks suspected, he used his quirk to create multiples which deceived the heroes multiple times. Hawks gave him the option of not fighting. But he was so hurt by the betrayal that of course he was going to fight. Unfortunately, they both had a job to do, and at the end of the day, it wasn't personal, it was business. Also Hawks fine as hell
