A timely and informative review as i read through Record Collector's 'presents' series on the legendary band Hawkwind. A worthy magazine featuring reviews of all studio albums and interesting interviews. Anyway thank you Barry for sharing and i have now ordered this edition.

I will pick this up for sure. I do hope Hall Of The Mountain Grill gets the same treatment. Note that there is an expanded edition of Warrior On The Edge Of Time and a Doremi Fasol Latido Deluxe Edition, apparently similar to this one, to be released this November (2024).

I first saw hawkwind in the summer of 1981 at stonehenge... scorpions was the very first band I watched live in the spring of 1981 ... and was the last band I saw in 2019 at bloodstock Festival... side note about hawkwind I knew most of the members as I lived in frome for a while ...

Saw Hawkwind in 1975 at East Ham Granada. At the end of the gig some of us rushed to the front of the stage for the expected encore. I really wanted to get a better look at Stacia. Would you believe it Hawkwind would not come back on stage. Bloody long haired smelly bastards I have never forgiven them.............. X In Search Of Space my most played 70s album ever love it.

Wow, what a gorgeous, deluxe piece of work. Especially displaying the fine graphics of that cover art. And an excellent album at that. It’s easily one of their 5 best. Now, I must go and get lost with it again 😆.

I ordered it 5 minutes after watching your review and it arrived in Oz a few ays ago. Listening to it now! I had a vinyl copy in the day (about 99 years ago) but I think it was one of a bunch of records I sold when I needed enough money for a tank of petrol when I was a student. Thanks for the alert, I'm almost able to forgive you for slagging off ELP the other day!!

I own the original which I bought back in 1972 in its release. I also bought the CD reissue. However, I doubt that I really need an expensive box set of stuff I already have. Steven W Taylor worked with jazz fusion bands like Burford, Brand X and National Health in the late 1970's and very early 1980's.

Hi Barry, this comment is more of a request since your excellent chanel is "Classic Album Review". It's more from a selfish perspective than anything, since I would love to hear your review on two of my favourite 70s albums, which never usually get much of a mention anywhere. The albums are... "Fish out of Water" by Chris Squire, and the self titled album "UK" by the band of the same name. I find your reviews of any albums you,ve done both intriguing and extremely thought provoking. Hence my request for two albums I think should go down in the annals if Prog Rock as two of the best ever recorded. Thanks in anticipation Barry. I,m a huge fan of your utube chanel.

Lemmy wasn't in the line up when this was recorded, but by the time it was released he was firmly ensconced on bass. There was a brief interlude where you had his driving bass pitched against Terry Ollis' jazz influenced drumming and it works brilliantly, sadly the only recordings are a few bootlegs. Then, of course, Terry got the boot and Simon King joined, to form the classic Hawkwind line up.
@acrookedbeat9013Ай бұрын
which bootlegs have Ollis and Lemmy ? can't say i've ever heard them together , the leave no star unturned cd claims to be Terry on drums but it's clearly Simon king
@robwatson3027Ай бұрын
@@acrookedbeat9013 Can't remember atm, but I'll have a look. Any from '71 are possibly Ollis/Lemmy but might be the guy from Pink fairies. But one I watched had the personnel list and checked Ollis and Lemmy.

@@robwatson3027 thanks i'd be very interested to hear Lemmy and Ollis together ! As im sure you know Lemmy's first gig was Powis square notting hill sept 71 i've heard a bootleg with twink on drums when Terry was too zonked on mandrax to play lol
