In this video I am working on my Hawthorn. It has been sat in the pot for 3 years now and I am eager to get the tree out to see how well it has come along!
I start by cutting back and pruning while the tree is sturdy in the pot. I try to work out a potential Apex.
Deciding what branches to keep and which ones are no good for the shape and style I’m going with.
Then it was time to unveil the roots!
My homemade pot wasn’t suitable in the end for Hawthorn - But this is great motivation to build a new pot!
I hope you enjoyed the video! If you did why not let us know by giving the video a like and drop us a comment.

Well done bud. Trees looking great. Your principal of bonsai on a budget I love. You've got a nice tree and it's cost you very little. Also not rushing it into a bonsai pot is also a winner. All the best Sam.

Thank you Kevin, I come from a fix and make do family to which we’ve got pretty good at most things. This has certainly reached over into my love for bonsai as I’m definitely on a budget but plant crazy!

Nice thorns on this tree. They have to be sharp and a half. Smart thinking wearing gloves to prune and wire.

Thank you! Not at the moment unfortunately as they take me too long and I get attached to the uniqueness of each pot :D. Also I’m still refining and testing them, just out of curiosity for myself. But I’d recommend you have a go at making one just patience time and a little craft! Thanks again for the kind comment
