Holy cow that electric motor running the baler must be incredible. I would really like to see an in depth walk around of that just out of curiosity

I can understand rebaling to small bales, but going from round to square? I'm really struggling to understand why anyone would do this, why not square bale right at the start?

Yes they also have more money in equipment this way to

I was thinking the same! If you do it , do it right in one time!

You can buy some hay cheap not everyone bales large square so you take what you can get... large squares are more economical to ship

Only reason I can see is if it's going export... Convert it to big squares, then to the press and into a container.. but then, Definitely cheaper and easier to to big bale it in the field... We made rounds, 20 years ago.. went to 4×4 big bales.. cover the ground so much faster!!!! And store almost twice as many tons in the same space!! Plus, much easier to haul!!

These square bales are more dense. Round bales cannot be shipped long distance economically. As agriculture changes more hay will be sold to dairies feed lots etc. and not fed locally. If the rancher/farmer has a decent operational plan they will understand that feeding has only marginal efficiency

I guess if you were a one man operation and than you don't need to get the bales picked off before it rained it makes sense...., this way you are able to leave the bales sit out in the field and when your haying season is done you can haul them in process them and with a square bale you have a greater range in transport. This could save a man a loaf of time for small squares and open up a pretty big market for equine.

Definitely would be able to haul it farther/easier. I have hauled many a square bale load. Those damn rounds move way too much regardless of how many straps you use.

The only way this makes sense is you don't need to get the hay near as dry to round bale. Round bale, let it cure/dry in the bale and rebale to get more money/ton and cheaper to haul/ton (maybe). Still questionable how it would pay.....you can buy allot of acid for that operation.

That's makin some blocks! How big is that baler motor? 250-300HP? I'm guessing 480 volt 3 phase...
