Last video or so, you mentioned someone commented that you weren’t marrying a farm girl. My wife was raised and grew up on a cattle farm in Alberta 🇨🇦. She married me, not a farm guy at all but a military pilot…30 years later and three incredible boys later, we are just as happy as day one. You will be as well. Too add a bit to the romance, I was driving from Ontario to my first posting at CFB Cold Lake Alberta. My now wife was on the side of the road with a trailer full,of cattle headed for auction. Her and her brother were trying to change a tire. I helped, rest is history! ❤️

Here in South Africa we get lots of grassland wildfires in our dry season, a firebeater(thin conveyor belt about 1 foot square on 2m long pole) or a 16l knapsack sprayer would be a lot more effective against the grass fires than a fire extinguisher. God bless

Keep the powder extinguishers for machine fires but a four gallon pack pump with the pump in the nozzel is the trick for grass fires. I think Wajax makes them. They are used a lot for controling smudges at forest fires. Your fields are the size of our farms. Maybe you will get a surplus of hay. Good video. Pax.

We were at a memorial service for an aunt last Saturday at the farm where I enjoyed going to over the years. After the service and before the reception I got talking to a cousin who had a combine fire about 20 years ago. It was really burning before he noticed it. There was a strong wind and the fire traveled about 6 miles before it was stopped. (Yes, miles, not kilometres.) It was a WOW experience. The town of Asquith was ready to be evacuated. It was not a "fun time". Fire is not a good thing inside a machine. Thank you for being so honest in your channel.

So take it from me, a fire guy from California, get yourself some 2 1/2 gallon water fire extinguishers. those dry chemical extinguishers are pretty much useless on a brush fire. You for sure need water cans out there with you. And they are re-usable, all you need is more water and an air compressor. Simple!

. . . Times have changed for noisy machinery. I now wear hearing aids because of riding a tractor with no cab. We did not have acoustic ear muffs "back then". The International 660 was a good tractor and I enjoyed cultivating with it and later swathing using it. Times were different. . . . I also worked at my uncles' plant making "Flexi-Coil Land Packers" during the summer. Acoustic muffs were not part of our "wardrobe". I got teased about wadding up some tissue to stick in my ears when I worked at the punch press. Steel plates were cut and there was a loud clang each time one was cut. I would take them to a welder and it made my day to unload them at the welder's booth. The noise made them jump. We used to laugh at that. Well, today we know that was "stupid". I recall at coffee time, one of the "seasoned" guys made fun of the tissue rolled up in my ears. You see, I was a university student during most of the year. I was an easy target. Today, I know different. . . . hey, hey, sorry I didn't get that! 👂🏻

Thanks for another video, Cole. I enjoy watching you and your Dad go through the seasonal rhythms. As for hearing loss, a specialist told me that people lose about 1% of their hearing a year after age 40. Maybe true. I drove tractors the generation before Brian's, no cab and no mufflers. That took its toll, and then I worked around the first generation computer which had huge high pitched noise from vacuum tape drives and air conditioners. Ear protection was for sissies then, I guess. Anyway, my hearing now ain't so good! But, if that's the worst I can complain about, life is good. Stay safe and well.

Get you a 2 gallon pump up hand sprayer and fill it with water and carry that for small fires. You might need to make yourself a custom nozzle that puts out a good wetting coverage, but that’ll be better than a fire extinguisher for small crop fires. Save the fire extinguisher for fires in the engine area!
