Ok, used my baller yesterday. It had a couple of hiccups but did pretty darn good. Use a lot of string on the highest setting. Going to try the lowest next time. As a test run I bailed 35 rolls. It does take longer than square bailing do to all the stopping to tie and drop the roll. I used the medium density setting but it was heavier than I wanted so I will try the less dense next time, I wanted a light bail for lifting in my old age. At this point I kinda wish it was a net wrap machine. It does work and was cheaper than a new square bailer.

Well the bailer went to hell in a hand basket and Yanmar dealer is unable to repair after 3 tries. Yanmar acted as if they would help but the slowly faded out of the picture leaving me with a hay package of $16,000 that is a piece of crap that does not work.

Just bought mine after looking for 4 weeks at all the brands. Would have liked a net wrap but that company after 4 days had not shipped it and said it would be another 3 days soooo. I found this one for $8,500.00 new where the net wrap brand was $11,000.00 used

We have the baler, disc mower, and rake system. What I would like to see, while I do LOVE having these videos for reference, is a MORE detailed hook up videos for each. We have the WORST problem hooking up the mower. It is SO heavy and the pin and crank system NEVER works like is described in the manual. We have to rethink it and improvise each and every year. ALSO, the dust shield inside the baler by the cutter knife was constantly getting caught up IN the knife as it traveled back and forth, causing the bale not to be wrapped, the whole system to jam, until the shield finally tore. We had to remove it. All of this costing valuable field time. PLEASE consider a detailed step by every step hook-up and removal of that disk mower.

​@@keithjacobson4493 ​ Easy peasy. We have a small hay shed for curing and we just stack them high like honeycomb to about 8 feet high. The shed has re-enforced walls so the stacks aren't pyramid, we use the walls as ends. In the barn only one end is a solid wall the rest of the stack tapers down like a pyramid. We LOVE the rounds. LOVE them. Let me know if I can be of any other help. I''ve only done 4 cuttings so far, so I'm far from a pro, but sometimes when helping, that's a good thing. I can move them much easier than a square that's for DARN sure.

@@weatherlady9666 thanks for the quick response ! That sounds good. Do they feed as easily as the other bales. I usually weigh the hay for my horses. Does the hay come unrolled so that I could end up tearing off a fairly close weight? Thanks again!!

@@keithjacobson335 It absolutely does come unrolled. In fact, to encourage pasture grazing this time of year for the alpaca herd, I untie a bale, get it started and slowly kick it downhill and let it unroll like a fruit roll-up. It leaves a long trail of hay for natural head down foraging. The rest of the time we have whole bales up in V shaped hayracks and let them just have at it. They eat it from all directions and I have less waste/spillage than I did from flakes off squares. The boogers would pick up a whole flake from the feeder, take a mouthful, and drop and trample the rest. The rounds slow them down, which is a good thing.

Use the same tractor with a hey spire or fork. Bring the bails to a central trailer. Connect trailer to tractor and away you go. Virtually all enjoyable seat time.

I would much rather pick up these small round bales than square bales. You can roll them, easier to carry, smoother and not as sticky as a square bale.

I doubt it would work very well for baleing just leaves but if you had enough hay or grass mixed in it would work probly.

There is also a rod on the baler that moves up and will indicate when the ball is about to tie. You want to stop immediately when the signal goes off.

I would say it is close the same, depending on your baler settings. The round bales generally may be slightly smaller if anything.

The only way I would do this is if there is a wrapper combination for it. If you could wrap these little bales at the same time you bale them from the same tractor, it would actually be quite efficient. If they don't have that combination, then forget it.

little over $11,000 but honestly never go by the MSRP unless it's a Deere or Kubota those machines rarely go below MSRP being number 1 and number 2 best selling compact tractors in North America. Check with your local dealer for pricing on any machine some dealers have cash incentives or special pricing they can't advertise online that's why its best to go there in person

Tan mar makes it, that is a good enough reason to stay away from it. Every single Yanmar Tractor that I ever split to replace the clutch was in danger of breaking in half because of poor quality/design, every one of the bolt bosses in the case was cracked or broken out! FYI, just about any tractor under 50 horsepower sold today from John Deere, Massey Ferguson, and New Holland/Ford is actually a Yanmar and quite often the same model is sold by all three. Don’t believe me just look on the engine block.

Only the engines are made by Yanmar. They have been designing diesel engines since the early 1900s. As far as I know, none of the other components are made by Yanmar.

These tiny hay bales have to be the biggest waste of time. You have to move that many more bales to feed animals.

to an extent I agree but keep in mind the person who uses this baler likely only has horses or a very small livestock operation they're a hobby farmer for one, 2 they might not need or have a 70+hp tractor nor have or want to spend 30 grand on a full size round baler especially if it's something they're not making a living with this would be a good alternative although if you're making a living with hay or running a large livestock operation this baler is not suitable for you

Jon Homrich very true it's suited for a small time hobby farmer. But what what I've seen the whole mini mower, rake, and baler combo is around $10k. And $10k can buy hay for years for a hobby guy and you don't have to deal with the time, fuel and maintenance costs and land for making hay. I estimate it would take 8-10 years to break even on buying this equipment vs buying hay before you consider costs other than the purchase price of the hay equip, and buy that time it'll be time to replace it. But hey it'll work for somebody.

Drew w it works great for me. I live on 2.5 acres and house and horses are on the half acre and I bale the 2 acres and it's just enough. No need for a big ass one. I'd rather have a small square baler. But I give it 2 thumbs up

And and and you don’t have the huge cash outlay for tractors over 100 HP , the compact tractor market makes this economical
