Just found one of these in our old barn, nice to see how it’s used

Traditionally, a rope attached to a mule, horses, or tractor would pull the bales up by way of a couple of pullies at the opposite end of the barn. You might look for a pullies on the opposite end of you barn. One at the outside peak and one dirctly below it at the foundation. I'm glad you found this video useful.

Great video! I am buying a hay trolley that will ride along a 6"x6" beam. Do you think that the beam and trolley will be able to handle a heavy wood beam that's 300 lbs?

The cast iron hay trolley and 6"x6" beam should be able to handle 300 lbs. Just make sure everything is mounted securely.

Loading hay with pulleys, trolleys dates back a few hundred years. It was mastered long ago. If you guys had youtube you could find videos and easily learn there is a much better way to accomplish this. Oh wait....

Too slow. Bigger loads. Need 250lbs min. Or not worth using. Get an elevator and conveyer. Hook conveyer to your trolly system to place bales reduce labor. Get some hooks and learn how to use them.
