I had post Partum Psychosis with both of my kids. It is not talked about enough. Find someone who will listen to you and be an advocate for all new moms! "Baby Blues" is not something that will go away with a little rest and a few minutes of quiet! I hope we start bringing more attention to this so women know it's OK to reach out and ask for help and you're not a failure as a mom if you're struggling!

And there's absolutely NO SHAME in needing a higher level of care than just someone to talk to. Sometimes you need medication or to be hospitalized and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! We can't be the best mom in the world if we aren't healthy and happy for our babies and mental health is just as important as physical health! She will get through this! Families need to realize that there shouldn't be a stigma around moms when they struggle! Love her every single day and tell her you're proud of even the smallest things like brushing her hair or getting dressed!

Postpartum depression / psychosis is the craziest thing. I had. PPD (not psychosis) but it's crazy how much you change and you can't control it. I think lack of sleep definitely contributes to it- anyone who doesn't sleep for weeks or months is bound to go a little crazy, let alone also taking care if a helpless little person. We need to stop shaming and start helping.
