I know you said engagement rate is the most important but I assume you had to have a good base of subscribers before you had success signing up advertisers. This is a great question! We will see what Hayden says, but for us when it comes to the "advertisers" conversation...We have always said to have at least 5000 subscribers where you have enough metrics and analytics data (that makes sense) to be able to have an intelligent conversation with advertisers when you are asking them to spend money with you.

if you were gonna milkroad it, you gotta stick to it 1.get exponential growth with a crumby quality outbound source 2.spam companies in your niche to advertise(w/ no actual result) 3. sell out using hype of ultra growth and one time revenue and let buyer deal w/ low quality subs w/ churn and inconsistent revenue lol milkroad went from 250k subs from month 0-8 & then 250-275k year 1-2

I don't know if it's true, but their Media Kit for advertisers calls out an Ad CTR of ~1%, which isn't all that bad for that large of a newsletter (again, if that number was true). I also noticed that they haven't run any paid acquisition on fb/ig anytime recently, and their socials are pretty dead, so I'm not sure what their acquisition strategy is these days. I'm personally not a fan of the newsletter though, it always seemed just a bit too messy for me.

Normally there are specific links that are given to each individual person sending you referrals that tracks who generated what. It is all managed on the backend via the system.

Does anyone here feel that there is a significant UX issue with the way we consume newsletters? - I don't get much context from the subject line about what to expect from a newsletter edition. - Managing emails becomes overwhelming - the volume and clutter make it hard to navigate and avoid constant notifications throughout the day. - The consistency of reading all newsletter editions - maybe this one is just me. - Most newsletters have a peak for their best content, then they go downhill. But we still have those newsletters coming in our inbox - because of their weird unsubscription process.
