For the 2,400 who gave this a thumbs down, you need to understand that the reason people go to a classical concert is the magic. It's an escape into a world of beauty and art and virtuosity that you just don't experience outside of the auditorium, and a ringtone completely ruins it for everybody. The audience members pay good money to attend. The musicians work hard to prepare. And some knucklehead forgets to silence his phone and BOOM!!! the magic is gone. Hard to get it back. So I can understand how the man was upset and waited until the ringing stopped. He wasn't being rude. He was reacting to the rudeness.

I like classical music as well but I don't feel the need to address its superiority over other genres, because objectively there is none. Maybe you'll say "oh, but classical music is much more diverse and has more variety, in regard to time signatures or keys", but that's because you haven't explored any other music. There's plenty of recent music that's just as complex and intricate as classical music. You probably only see what's on the radio and make your judgement by that, not looking any further. Even in classical periods more people listened to folk songs than classical music by a lot. Maybe you should mature and explore music some more before you make such stupid arguments

@@WowFan991 it’s not about offending anyone, or being over sensitive. It’s about the appreciation and respect we have for the music itself. That moment the ring goes off, it’s a disrespect to the music the most and just ruins all the appreciation music demands. It’s also rude to the musicians but more importantly the music. Everyone at the concert is giving the attention and respect to the music being created by the musicians.

I just hate the shit out of cellphones ringing during live performances. I´ve seen the most beautiful live performances destroyed by all kinds of noises, but very specially by cellphone tones. By the way, Zacharias is totally right. The music is building tension, and there are those magical moments where the tension gets to its climax and relaxes and so on. And all that can be screwed up by a cellphone. So, please, next time turn off your cellphones.
@pixie51988 жыл бұрын
when this happens at my concerts i also get pretty fucking annoyed. you have to understand that by having your phone ringing in the middle of a song playing you are destroying a unique moment. that's not how music should be treated, you have to respect both musicians and the music itself. just turn your goddamn cellphones off.

@Assassunn8 жыл бұрын
Richard van Pukkem Oh yes, I didn't think about that point. it's probably because everyone in my school thought there was a phone blocker in the establishment because of the way it was building in fact, and our teacher used to tell us it would have been illegal and very expensive. Whatever lol
@Engineer97368 жыл бұрын
Lucas Teks They are a bit dodgy indeed.. But i think there are also different types of blockers. Some may just send random noise on the specific frequency so it literally blocks any other signal. Some more intelligent ones like I described in Budapest might still allow outgoing calls i think. It just enables the mute function of your phone somehow, quite clever :)

I dunno. People like to act careless, or they simply can't be bothered. My phone is muted 24/7. There is no possible way that anyone's call or text message is of such dire need that it requires my immediant attention. But there are plenty of phone addicts that can't wait until they recieve their next message because they believe that their text messages (that can wait forever, its a fucking text message you can always read it later or in a few hours or the next day or whatever, you get it) are more important than the moments in their life. EDIT: Alright here is actually something that sorta proved for me that people seriously don't care. During school exams, it is strictly forbidden to have the phone with you. Basically, you aren't even allowed to take it with you to the exam. They aren't going to search you, but if they see you, then you instantly failed the entire exam. Quite a hard rule, but they don't like cheaters, and having your phone with you counts as an attempt at cheating. People know that because they are being told that many many many times before the exam. So when we had exams this year, someones phone was ringing during the exam. Instantly failed the exam ofc. See? People don't even care for important exams. They rather want to have their phone with them, keep it on, don't bother to mute it and then go with that phone into the exam while just hoping no one calls, and then someone calls. To be fair, I had my phone with me during the exam aswell because its kinda handy to find out the times and departure locations for public transportation, but my phone is 24/7 muted, and during the exam it was shut off in my jacket. 100% fail safe.
