@balsegev @UCwvUjyyu5102bBnQ0gPnUlw That's really one of my favorite concertos. The Bowing is pretty expressive, & the Music that you have on your stand is a Barenreiter Verlag Score. There's also a Piano Reduction score that's alot easier to read since it shows the Orchestral part in a really compact shape.

Thanks for the explaining. Can you play the Mozart clarinet concerto with the cello? There are also very fine Vivaldi Basson concertos that can be played with cello. May need some adjusting for the cello. Sergei played the cello concerto you are explaining but with a valve trumpet.

Eric Cheng hi, I once played a Haydn trumpet concerto that was transcribed for cello and that works very well. One could probably play the Mozart clarinet concerto on cello as they have a similar range.

Hi Danilo, thanks for watching- I am posting the second half of this lesson in a few minutes. I hope that this second half might clarify some issues. Otherwise, please let me know which passages are you having difficulty with, and how? not in tune?, not clear? not fast enough? I do talk more about left hand and right hand coordination in the second part. You can use the music Haydn wrote as an exercise. There are scales and shifts in the music.

@balsegev @UCwvUjyyu5102bBnQ0gPnUlw The reason that lots of cellists like to play this concerto differently is because we don't have a surviving manuscript of this Concerto in Haydn's Hands, but we do have a copy that was found in the 1960s & the one in the video is published by Barenreiter Verlag. The instrumentation from top to bottom in the Barenreiter Score is 2 Oboes, 2 Horns in C Basso (those parts can be played on 2 C Bass Flugelhorns or C Euphoniums), 2 Violins, Viola, Solo Cello, & Basso Continuo (Cellos, Basses, Bassoon, & Harpsichord).

You forgot about the Tutti passages in the solo cello part. We need to know what they sound like
@rominn21842 жыл бұрын
^ Those are not always played, if I know what you mean correctly. Classical concerto form is typically that there is "main material" played by the orchestra and then solo material played by the soloist in which the orchestra softly accompanies underneath similar to the "chorus" theme versus other part in a popular song. This is likely why she didn't bother to include these passages. Perhaps it was tradition in the past for the soloist to play the tutti passages along with the orchestra but it is seldom done today. Just trust that you have quite enough information to work with already from a master cellist!

I’ve been having some trouble with clarity in the 32nd notes, especially at bar 44. I always get the notes in tune, but I feel as if it’s not quite speaking the way it should. Is there anything I could consider doing differently?
@Inbalsegevcello6 жыл бұрын
Nick Callcut hi, you probably mean bar 46? I will post/talk about how to work on this passage next week. Be sure your left hand is ahead of your right hand when you change positions, in other words-the left hand moves while you are on the “old bow” if that makes sense? Try to work on this passage with the techniques I talk about for bar 34. Also, playing with the bow closer to the bridge can help.
