There is a fluidity and gentleness of tone…..and wonderful expression. I love that she does not overplay….just lets the music speak for itself. Excellent playing!!!

Most don't play three items for the trumpet that are played during the introduction. And that is also the case here. One is a single long note pretty early in the introduction. Later in the introduction there is a trumpet "call", and this is repeated shortly after. This was really the first piece written for a "keyed trumpet" which allowed a chromatic sequence. People had never heard what a trumpet like this could do and were only familiar with natural trumpets which were often used for "calls" (like what a horn plays on a fox hunt) or flourishes and rarely as a solo instrument. I think Haydn was leading the listener step by step into what this new trumpet could do. The steady note. Then the calls (which would have been common to the listener) and after the introduction it gets to a diatonic scale, and then soon after a descending chromatic scale. It would have been the first time the audience ever heard such a thing from a trumpet.

Nicely done, young lady! Both of you, by the way... The Haydn is such a rite of passage for any player, I remember my own (whoa! That was back in 1977!). But well done on the expressivity, your poise, and the way you brought it all to life. It was a nice listen for an old(ish) man... Thank you.

Wow, an enchanting playing!! Horn amateur here and who ever is playing I always listen this concerto a-z, but I just realized how hard it is. The virtue is Ms. T's tone. We all can play Mozart horn concertos but the best wind music comes from tone control, volume, shape, color. Bravo for this young lady, she has that fine musicianship already.

That was very well done. What stood out the most to me (I play trumpet) is the wonderful tone. Some places seemed to be played a bit more legato than how most play it, but I don't think that's a negative. Just a little different interpretation. Chipped some notes, and some in places where I suspect she usually didn't chip them. A couple in a more difficult passage at the end where it is more difficult -especially if tiring. Or nervous. It is worth mentioning that the great Adolph Herseth chipped a note playing this concerto once. I think it a performance at Ravinia. I liked this. And if you listen without being distracted by looking at the video, you can really appreciate the beautiful tone.

Very very nice. What struck me was the brilliance of the pianist. They often go without compliments, but this lady is brilliant, the touch, the tone, the way she supported the trumpet. The piano itself was fantastic in sound. To me, the highlight was the pianist. Not to take away her playing on C trumpet (good choice) for it was well done, but that piano was to die for. I wonder if she has done any for the horn?

@alexeytokarev29156 күн бұрын

Solide Leistung.
