As a kid I was taught the importance of speed early on when the key to defeating Mewtwo in Stadium 1 was to lead with Electrode. It was the only pokemon in the game that could outspeed, and while it was weaker than other electric types, being able to go first was *crucial* to winning that fight, getting off that early Thunder Wave or Explosion made the remainder of the fight much MUCH easier. I've always had a soft spot for him for this reason, I also had a lot of fun using him as a lead in Gen 4, you'd be surprised how good Mirror Coat is on him.

Left a comment on the last one too, but it was quite a bit after it was posted so I wanna throw in my suggestion again. Shaymin land form is in ZU while its other form gets to be in ubers, but it gets to pull off some real shenanigans using Substitute, Leech Seed, Air Slash, and Protect/Synthesis depending on if you wanna run king's rock or leftovers. It has base 100 speed which gives it an edge against tropius, and I personally think its too cute not to use. (If you use sky form it gets serene grace, kings rock and air slash is ruthless.)

I don’t think Hisuian Electode has the bulk to use Chloroblast nor Giga Drain, but fortunately, it does get Leaf Storm. So here’s my idea for a set: Electrode (Hisuian) @ Focus Sash Ability: Soundproof Modest Nature 4/0/0/252/0/252 Volt Switch Leaf Storm Thunderbolt Taunt With something that has 150 base speed, Taunt is great, especially since you can affect dark-types while a species that’d rely on Prankster cannot, such as Whimsicott or Murkrow. Volt Switch is if you wanna switch out after using Taunt, or perhaps to reset your Sp.Atk after a Leaf Storm. Alternatively, instead of a Focus Sash, I wonder if one could use a White Herb so you can use Leaf Storm at full power twice in a row? And although Electrode of any variant is known for exploding, its low attack makes Explosion a non-starter. Soundproof seems to have the widest application, as I think Static can be unreliable, and Aftermath only seems to trigger if you’re specifically knocked out by a physical move. I don’t think I’d rule out Worry Seed or Foul Play, either, nor Thunder Wave or Reflect. EDIT: I’m also unsure of what Tera type would be best, and if maybe Tera Blast should be considered as a result.

dat ragequit. Hayden, what about a fiery Gyarados? Gyarados @ Wide Lens Ability: Moxie Tera: Fire - Temper Flare - Stone Edge - Earthquake - Dragon Dance First, sun must be set up. As Gyarados comes in, opponent will send in an electric move owner, generally. DD while the electric mon comes in. Commit Tera: Fire, then EQ.

I would tell you to use sweeper quagsire, but is not the same without the mirror herb, the strategy was using swagger with the mirror herb, and as quagsire has unaware, only his boost would really boost, so basically you got confusion on your opponent and +2 attack in one turn, which was perfect as you could then sweep. But since this is gen 8, i would say that ilumise is a good option, giving the fact that there's less fire type pokemons in the competitive besides incineroar and rock or flying types can be easily covered. Illumise, has prankster and can use tailwind, thunder wave, wish and as an attack option, air slash, which actually gives illumise the chance of killing pokemons with para flinch, i tested it out in showdown, but i don't really know if illumise is in sword and shield
