"I'm so fascinated by your videography work" Girl, same! and she doesn't have a diploma for making films but you won't be able to tell that when you watch her videos. I remember "girls like girls". I thought it was just another cheap queerbaiting girl on girl video created for clickbaits. I had no idea who she was but I stayed and watched the whole thing because I saw an Asian American woman behind the camera and that never happens, like ever! as a fellow Asian(Filipino). That fascinated me. So of course, I googled her name and I found out that she was an independent artist. Meaning, she basically have very little to no money for her videos and music. So that fascinated me even more. 3 years ago, I thought to myself that she had the guts and wished her good luck with everything in my mind. Now, here she is on a big company like MTV getting interviewed. Yes, this is a wild cruel world. But sometimes, it's not that wild and it's not that cruel. Especially when people like Hayley Kiyoko is getting some recognition for her work.

"The films I grew up watching were very depressing" I hate the fact that I know what she's talking about. When homophobic people would say "oh there's too much gay on TV or movies, we don't need more." I'm sitting here like "what the heck are you talking about?" we barely get anything. I would watch depressing movies like Jennifer's body just because there is that one girl on girl scene. That's not the fair representation for the LGBT community. But still, I watch it because there's barely anything for us. You take what you can get. It is what it is.

Why do you need to see your lifestyle validated on network television? Why does corporate depictions of your lifestyle matter? Should every show on television feature every sexual preference human's have?
@sarcasticbutsincere6661
@sarcasticbutsincere6661 6 жыл бұрын
Well...they matter because heterosexuality is the norm for society. And when you don't even know what being gay is like or, in worse cases, what non-straight sexualities even are, then if you're gay then it's a struggle trying to figure out who you are. With regard to straight people, not knowing what being gay is like or what it looks like just fosters homophobia in bad cases, or ignorance in most.
@zackosborn1731
@zackosborn1731 6 жыл бұрын
So it's up to a corporation to change that norm? Isn't this the responsibility of the people, culture, and parents? When did corporations become responsible for helping you figure out who you are?
@sarcasticbutsincere6661
@sarcasticbutsincere6661 6 жыл бұрын
Well, I suppose it's less about a corporation helping people figure out who they are so much as it is about *stories* helping people figure out who they are.

WhyTheHorseface I like queer because it encompasses more than LGBT, and believe it deserves a place because of that. I'm not LGB or T, but am I am queer. I go through some of the awkward and uncomfortable moments that LGBT people go through. My "sexual identity" is even more rare and less understood. So why not? It fills a void that otherwise wouldn't be filled.

(She hit her head during a Road Rules/Real World-themed birthday party competition.) Of the aftermath, Kiyoko says, “I couldn't think, I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't drive. I was fucked up. I take like five pills a day for my head, still.” Kiyoko was on tour at the time, crying before and after shows because the pain was so severe. I don't think most people care if you're gay. If I don't agree with your life style that's my right to think that, I really don't see how that makes me a "bad person". If you don't agree with me then you can disagree, fine, but it's when you force me to share you're opinions and you label me homophobic or say I'm part of the problem, that it just makes you look hypocritical. Gay people don't seem to want equal rights they want their rights to be above anyone who disagrees with them. Also saying she is "lesbian jesus" is the biggest oxymoron I've ever heard.

EXISTING IS NOT FORCING. Are they FORCING you to JOIN? are they FORCING you to PARTY with them? no, they're not. They just EXIST in the same world as you. That's it. They just EXIST. There is little to no representation about homosexuality in the Oscars or in the mainstream media except for when they want to QUEERBAIT. The problem is that when you have a bad experience with one gay person or see a bad gay person this one time, you'd automatically put the whole entire gay population in a box. How would it be if I take Gary Ridgway("The Green River Killer," was responsible for the deaths of at least 49 proven victims, though he confessed to the murders of at least 71. True number of victims is likely closer to 90 women) and treat or look at every white person like they're like him. Now, that wouldn't be fair. Your brain would automatically go there. Like "oh he's weird because he's gay, oh he's doing that crazy thing because he's gay." Whatever happened to personality differences? when straight people are weird or doing something crazy, it's because that is his "personality" and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's straight. You see one gay couple doing PDA and you automatically stereotype every gay couple in the world. As if straight people doesn't do that.

How can you prove that gay people are FORCING you to join them? in your crooked mentality, EXISTING IS FORCING? do you feel that way when you see and hear 50 SHADES OF GREY posters and commercials and soundtracks and billboards and books that are advertised everywhere? any person and any age can see that. There's no filter on that. What about the explicit songs in the rap music? what about BIBLES? 12 year old MARY had a relationship with a 90 year old man and got pregnant by a non-human at 14. Islam has a version of that too and it's with a 6 year old Aisha. So what? also, what about the BESTIALITY on cartoons aka Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, and even that Skittles commercial with the Walrus. Do you get TRIGGERED or OFFENDED by that?

Somehow this ended up in my feed, but unlike some of the other Christian people on this thread, I want to ask this question: how can you say being gay is normal if there isn't any science to validate that? We're often called bigots for our view on this topic, but don't you think that's a little unfair given there is no evidence to support what you're saying?
@island-life

With or without gay characters, PEOPLE WILL BE GAY. That's just how it is. Poor people, indigenous people, and people from royal families like Sappho and Alexander the great were homosexuals even if there were no pride parades or media back then. The fear that people will turn out gay if they see something gay or someone gay is UNREALISTIC considering the history of human beings.

"Recent research has revealed that a homophobic attitude is often reflective of psychological issues, such as higher levels of psychoticism and difficulties in coping. This, of course, suggests that homophobia could not only be interpreted as a form of hatred and prejudice, but as a mental disorder in itself." "Published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, a study of undergraduate students in Italy revealed that people who have intensely negative views of the gay community also have higher levels of psychoticism, in addition to inappropriate coping mechanisms" www.rebelcircus.com/blog/study-shows-homophobic-people-psychological-issues/

There is no such thing as a gay role model. A role model is something a parent would want their children to emulate and this couldn't be further from the truth if one of your children is gay. I know from experience because my youngest son is gay and he almost wound up with a nervous breakdown just telling us because he was terrified we would not accept him. While I would prefer he was not gay he is my son and I will love him no matter what but his life is not going to be what it would be if he were not labeled 'gay' which is never going to be a positive thing. No matter how far gays have come in coming-out and trying to get people to believe they are normal, they are not. This is not a biologically normal behavior. I was very interested in hearing my son tell me he understands this however, he is drawn where he is drawn and would not be happy with seeking a female as a companion. I greatly respect his honesty and will be there to support him in any way I can but the goal of the gay/lesbian/Bi and particularly trans community is simply something unobtainable, to be considered to be a normal and acceptable option in the range of human options for an adult lifetime companion &/or simply as a lifestyle. I will probably get trashed for this however, I really don't particularly care. I live with it every day and my son's tears when he has been taunted for being 'who he is' are the most painful thing a parent has to bear. Being unable to help is a horrible feeling but society is not going to change. I did not support gay marriage etc., prior to my sons coming out and I do not support it now, however, I do understand it on a level I did not before and when you bring in the human equation it becomes much more difficult to dismiss as simply deviant sexual behavior. I don't have the answers and I don't know who this woman is but calling her a roll modle is ridiculous.

www.elitedaily.com/life/famous-successful-virgins/1347908 So people like Sir Isaac Newton and Nikola Testa are all USELESS just because they didn't live a NORMAL LIFE aka HAD CHILDREN WITH WOMEN?

The crooked mentality of "GAY IS NOT NORMAL" is not something new. That's the reason why so many TEENAGERS and even CHILDREN below 12 were and are still tortured by their own FAMILY.

Tiny needles were stuck into his small fingers and he was electrocuted repeatedly" "He was initially told he had AIDS and that he was the only gay person left in the country - because the government had killed all the rest of them and would come after him too if they found out he was alive." "Freezing ice cubes were placed in his hands while he was shown pictures of men hugging - so that he would associate pain with intimacy between men." "He was then repeatedly burned when shown similar images but untouched when images of men and women together were shown."

12 year old Mary and 6 or 7 year old Aisha ended up with 50 to 90 year old men. Romanticized version of CHILD SEX SLAVERY and PEDOPHILIA. VIOLENCE on VIDEO GAMES is justifiable, BDSM aka 50 SHADES OF GREY is justifiable, EXPLICIT music videos and songs that are accessed anytime online and even in random restaurant is justifiable, Beauty and the beast aka cartoon BESTIALITY is justifiable, the other form of entertainment like WRESTLING where real people would HIT EACH OTHER and the crowd would CHEER them about getting VIOLENT is justifiable. Jack and Rose from one of the most popular movies in the history aka Titanic sold billions of dollars. That's heterosexual ADULTERY content. Rose cheated on her fiance with Jack and that is glorified. Billions of people thought that was sweet. So on and on and on. But there's always an issue if it's LGBTQ related. "Joseph, aged 90 (the Protoevangelium had not given Joseph a specific age), a widower with four sons and two daughters, is given charge of the twelve-year-old Mary, who then lives in his household raising his youngest son James the Less (the supposed author of the Protoevangelium) until she is ready to be married at age 14½. Joseph's death at the age of 111, attended by angels and asserting the perpetual virginity of Mary, takes up approximately half the story" "According to Guinness World Records, the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with over 5 billion copies sold and distributed" Where's the outrage on that? that is glorified, isn't it? look at the sales though! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Joseph#Sources en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_books#References "27% of born-again Christians have had at least one divorce" "21% of atheists have been divorced" "21% of Catholics and Lutherans have been divorced" "24% of Mormons have been divorced" "25% of mainstream Protestants have been divorced" "29% of Baptists have been divorced" "24% of nondenominational, independent Protestants have been divorced" "The highest divorce rates are in the Bible Belt: "Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma round out the Top Five in frequency of divorce...the divorce rates in these conservative states are roughly 50 percent above the national average" of 4.2/1000 people. Nine states in the Northeast (Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Maryland) have the lowest divorce rates, averaging just 3.5/1000 people." www.thoughtco.com/divorce-rates-for-atheists-248494

Erm... Gay role model? Never heard of her. As a gay man I wish the blatant gay adenda would stop. People shouldn't be put on a pedestal over their sexuality which isnt under their control. People should get on with their lives. Being gay, lesbian or bi isn't an accomplishment and definitely doesnt make you special, just gay.

Erm....... nobody's forcing you to TAKE HER AS YOUR GAY ROLE MODEL. But for a bisexual Asian(Filipino) woman like me, she is an inspiration. Where in the title or interview said that if you're gay you're special?
