"Red Oni, Blue Oni" is one of the best known fairy tale for Japanese kids. The red oni (or ogre) wants to become friends with the humans, but they are scared of him. The blue oni offers to go into town and cause havoc, so that the red oni can come and "save" them, chasing him away. The plan works and the humans befriend the red oni, but the blue oni says goodbye since the humans fear him now and'd also find out about the truth if they saw them together. The red oni becomes sad, realizing the blue oni and not the humans was his one true friend. "Golden week" is a Japanese holiday where various off days happen in a row, so it's usually their longest holiday in a year

one of the things that i love about one piece is that, almost in every arc they set different small groups of the straw hats, making different dynamic combinations between them. like in this one zoro with sanji being competitive with each other, nami and usopp the coward duo and vivi getting accustomed to luffy being luffy.

Ya Golden Week is a week in Japanese culture that has several holidays within it around late April/Early May (Pretty nice timing to watch this lol) Including Showa Day (Former Emperor) Greenery Day, Children's Day etc. Another fun fact: Eiichiro Oda (The author) has stated that Luffy's birthday is on Children's Day (May 5th)

Exactly. Most new watchers/readers takes some time to actually realize that there are a LOT of power systems in the world of One Piece. Till now, there's already been a few confirmed powers: - Devil Fruits, ofc - Swordsmanship (e.g. Mihawk's flying slash) - Pussyfoot technique by Kuro - Fishman-specific skills such as Arlong's water shotgun and Kurobi's Fishman Karate - Hypnosis by Jango I think at this point there are all the confirmed power systems that have been introduced. Let's not touch all the specialised weapons used as well. Like Igaram's sax gun and hair roll guns, and Gin's weighted tonfas.

@@iczzephyr Having just gone out of my way to clarify a common misconception, honestly, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to assume Miss Golden Week has a Devil Fruit power and never be corrected. Not everything needs to be explained and not every explanation we come up with for the things that aren't explained needs to be perfect. Assuming Kuro has a Devil Fruit would be a bit of a problem because it means you still haven't internalized that this is a world where super strength and super speed are just a thing some people can achieve, and in the live action it's a genuine flaw that Shanks isn't shown in the water to emphasize that he hasn't eaten a fruit because he's meant to be an example of how impressive a person can become through sheer effort. Miss Golden Week? As long as you understand what she can do, it doesn't really matter how she does it. Sometimes Oda throws in something weird that isn't a Devil Fruit because he has an idea he thinks is fun and I don't think every new bit of weirdness needs its own power system to justify it. There are a few characters in One Piece who use some form of suggestion or hypnosis, and if Oda decides in Chapter 1200 to explain that these are all part of a family of techniques and abilities, I'll go with it, but I won't feel a gaping hole if he never does.

@@iriscreamcoffee4749 I honestly think that all the weird and random powers in One Piece are just random ideas that Oda-sensei sensei cooked up one day and felt that it would be interesting if it's used in the story. But sometimes he just doesn't want to attribute it to a DF. As U said though, there're are no issues with some random person having some random power that's not DF related. It's Oda's world and he can write it in any way that he wants. It's just a pet peeve of mine when watching new reactors and they try to match any new ability they find with a DF. As long as they realize that in the world of OP, there're other supernatural abilities that does not stem from DF then that's fine. I just think that defining them as separate power system would be the easiest way to explain it.

As a few other commenters have mentioned, Golden Week is a holiday period that's unique to Japan. Basically, it's a roughly week-long period during the end of April & beginning of May, in which a number of public holidays are clumped together. This allows most people there to enjoy an extended time off work, usually two long weekends in a row. Some companies and workplaces are even so generous as to give their employees the entire week off (including the days that aren't public holidays). It's a time when many families in Japan will take the opportunity to travel -- especially since most of them won't see another long weekend until mid-July.

watching your reaction to this ep made me notice something i haven't realized when i was on my one piece journey. spoilers ahead (water 7 arc): the way usopp was inspired by broggy and have been told that to them their "pride" is their treasure, greatly influenced usopp but in the wrong way on how he acted on water 7 when he is overcomed with pride and argued with luffy. This scene is also a foreshadowing of luffy vs usopp fight where luffy looks up to dorry while Usopp to Broggy. Now I wonder if Oda will use this theme again in the Elbaf arc where the giants greatly value pride as their treasure. I hope tht there will no longer be the same conflict within the strawhats like in water 7, in the final arcs of one piece.
